Quadrophenia Live In London. With two discs or five ....so far no more details than that. For those of you who'd like to watch the show with your own eyeballs, there's also a DVD. In my little dream world this is all from the 1973 tour. In reality it's probably going to be a lot more recent.

I'm very pleased that the DVD/Blu-Ray came out before the contractually rumoured 2015, especially since I missed the tour.
The 5-disc collector's edition is disappointing: four discs of the same content plus 5.1 mix of the original album along with whatnot? I'll be giving it a pass with that price.

Yeah, a vintage 1973 show would be beyond our dreams, especially since it wasn't among the band's favorite tours.

This is just awful Why bother They sound sh*t. It's over guys! A lot of people enjoyed the tour and may want to relive the experience at home It's not quite over until another one dies or they're playing to empty venues.

This is just awful Why bother They sound sh*t. It's over guys! I'm with the others here who've said it works as a souvenir for those who attended the shows. And to be fair to the band, it's somewhat extreme to claim they sound "sh*t". Considering the ages of the two original members, and the fact The Who lost their powerhouse rhythm section years ago, they're actually not too shabby. Sure, it's not classic Who, but it's good enough for what it is. One other point to bear in mind; When I first discovered The Who the only available contemporary live performance was the 1989 Tommy show...with an expanded musical backing troupe like a cabaret on steroids, and special guests Pattie LaBelle, Phil Collins, Elton John and Steve Winwood. Consider the quality and value of the new Quadrophenia show within that context.

I've pre-ordered the blu ray DVD & the 2 cd set. No way would I shell out $147.50 for that box set, though! I think it's pretty lame to expect you to have to pay for both a blu ray DVD AND a regular DVD of the same show.

All I hear is Roger growling into a mike like some OAP let loose on karaoke night.
His mojo has left him
Now if the video is a true representation of what is coming out of the speakers then I stand by my comment that it's a pile.
I think most of the folks who go to these shows are cashed up 30 and 40 something couples who want to let their hair down and go to a "rock" concert rather than being music lovers
Critical distance could be put to good use on this forum rather than blind hero worship from many of its congregation.

I'm not.I'm a music lover and a true fan and I can only speak for the show that I saw in Glasgow. The band sounded great.Roger sounded great and powerful(forget the fact the he's 70)Watching him I just kept thinking man he's 70? Pete was playing great and sounded excellent.I don't know if the Glasgow show was a particular "on" night on this tour but they really were fantastic. I came away thinking if that IS the last time I ever see them, then at least it went out with a high. Did you attend any the shows in person?

Critical distance could be put to good use on this forum rather than blind hero worship from many of its congregation. We've always had a policy on this forum of allowing comment from both sides of the fence, positive and negative. I've offered more than my fare share of negative opinions in the past. To insinuate this forum is full of blinkered ass-kissers is, frankly speaking, bullsh*t. The fact that you are allowed to freely comment as you do is strong testament to that. If you wish to discuss critical distance and judgement, then in all fairness at least let us know upon what you are basing your appraisal of the band, because right now all you seem to be doing is saying "It's cr*p" with no further explanation. How is that any improvement upon the opinions of those who may blindly hero worship and say "it's brilliant" with an equal lack of explanation? I'm basing my critical opinion on seeing/hearing a couple of pensioners performing music with a band missing 50% of the membership which once made them such a uniquely fantastic live unit. Within that context I would argue this Quadrophenia release isn't too bad. It's not brilliant, it's not earthshaking or groundbreaking, but for what it is, it's alright. And when I take into account the live performances today offered by some other professional bands of the same or a similar age group, my opinion raises further.

Pete and Rog are obviously pushing 70, Keith and John are long gone. Sure, they don't sound as great as they did in their glory days. But to suggest that they should call it a day? Really? I'd say to all those who say this: If you don't like it, nobody forces you to listen.
But if they still enjoy it and lots of fans seem to enjoy it too, I don't see where the problem is. It's only music. I'm just happy that they're still around and I finally magaed to catch them live last year.

I think it's pretty lame to expect you to have to pay for both a blu ray DVD AND a regular DVD of the same show. No one is being forced to buy anything. Just order what ever pieces you want, just like you did. Some people don't have Blu Ray (belive it or not) The box set just encompasses everything that's out there. Not lame at all.

No problem, Svet!
Does anyone know why Amazon UK (or any other European Amazon for that matter, it seems) doesn't have DVD and BR listed? Only the CD and the boxset on German site.
I know it is available through Universal's web store, just wondering.
