Oh goody. Another best of. They could have at least put 50 songs on it.

Interesting to see 'Dogs', 'The Last Time' and 'Postcard' on it. Also, only one song from 'Endless Wire'? Would be nice if they had included 'Tea & Theater' or 'Mike Post Theme'. And if I'm not mistaken this will be the first time a remastered version of 'Relay' gets a release. It was overlooked on all recent compilations.

The time would have been better for a beefed up box set ala 50 Years of Maximum R&B than yet another comp.

The accompanying video was great however. It's shame that they've f'd around with it for subsequent DVD releases. That box set is my favorite only because of the fond memories I have of the time and of listening to it. I was 14 when it came out and even though I'd been listening to the Who for years before because of my dad and his records, the box set was the first Who I bought that was my own, and it led to me discovering them beyond the records my dad had (Tommy, Leeds, Who's Next, Quad, Who Are You). Even though it's a flawed box set, it'll always hold a special place in my heart.

On the basis of past experience I'd say that was largely unlikely. Maybe they'll throw a couple of curveballs, as they did for the 2000 tour, but I'll be very surprised if the setlist differs much from the usual hits selection. It would have been nice if for this anniversary they'd hired a venue for a week or so and played a run of shows performing individual albums, similar to what the Buzzcocks, Sparks and Carter USM have done. That would make it an unforgettable 50th anniversary, a real celebration of their career and a brilliant way to thank the fans for all of those years.

True! I had hoped for some more archival releases this year. Exactly. What better time than a milestone such as this to unleash a campaign pushing "new" archive material? It's been 36 years since Keith died. Archive releases, while mostly good, have been few and far between. I'm not expecting anything in this regard from The Who camp.

Now it is indeed "Tracklisting TBC" on Universal's site.

I long ago accepted the general rule of Who in regard to CD releases is one of "expect the expected"....but every now and then I like to dream....

Still, if they would even release something like the SF '71 show, if they never did anything else, I'd be happy.

When they released live archival material, it's almost every time from the Tommy Tour 69-70 only : - Ottawa '69 - The London Coliseum '69 - Hull '70 - Isle Of Wight '70
Officialy, we have four times at least the complete "Tommy" set from that tour but still nothing complete from '71. They would be still capable of released an official DVD of Tanglewood '70...

Looks vaguely like an attempt to come out with a U.S. single A-side collection (plus a few additions). Doubt they'll use the U.S. single edits of "Love Reign O'er Me" and "Who Are You" but we'll see.

SuperDeluxeEdition.com: This collection is a likely candidate for release on the Pure Audio blu-ray audio format, but there is no confirmation of that at the time of writing.

How long have we been talking about that San Francisco '71 complete release, Whofanatic - it seems forever! Far too long, my friend! In any event, nearly the entire show is here...the fellow who did this spliced together the VFABP songs and the songs from the old boot...it's my favorite way to listen to it (I've ripped the audio): www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-BUe2I0aBgSee, Who? We fans have such passion that we do things like this and more!! We'd be willing to WORK FOR YOU to ensure the best possible archive releases can come out. All you've gotta do is listen!

Oh come on--another release of (basically) the same stuff? So someone on the marketing side ("Hey guys, how about a Best Of? You're welcome--I'm a free thinker."), and someone on the business/operations side ("You know where I see a market? In a Best Of. The margins would be through the roof!") both decided this would be a good idea. I have to think that the point of diminishing returns has got to kick in at some point.
At least integrate some of the holy grail archived stuff (as mentioned previously on this thread). This situation is ripe for parody.

It's no shock that a gtst hits would accompany the year. Worst artwork I've seen ion a Who release in a while Actually,EW was terrible cover too
But in terms of track list it's not bad as an overview Although I would've added the real me and young man blues...
