Correct.
Unless you count the TOTPs mime from 1971 then yes Sweden 1972 is the earliest.

hmmm. I'm amazed that there is no actual live footage from the '71 tour.

Super 8 from Forest Hills that's it. Ridiculous considering how big they were in 1971. There's the rumoured Houston show from November 1971 but that's bullsh*t I think. As for audio it seems everyone at Pye was too stoned to do their jobs www.ukrockfestivals.com/goodbye-summer-recordings.html

I've yet to hear one live with Keith that floats my boat.

it seems to me that WGFA was best at live in 1972.

I consider 1971 to be the greatest year of The Who. Hearing songs from Who's Next played on Pete's SG (the last year before he switched to Les Pauls) is awesome.

Yep
The 50p UK tour then the first US tour with The Oval being the highlight.
Those Lifehouse songs fresh out of the bag, big new PA, doc martens, big beards and Cadillacs
I wish I was there....

BIG TIME, i suppose. but Pete said once at his former petetownshend.com that in the modern age it is far more enjoyable to the great rock star i.e. to him to be on the tour, he said that it's like a vacation now with all of those de luxe mini buses, executive jets, much better hotel rooms with internet and so on.

How comfy. It's not about 'big rock star' It's about new music being played and heard for the first time and the youth and energy of the band performing it.

Keith was definitely better in the studio on WGFA than live...

Cool. never seen that footage before. Interesting seeing them perform a classic number like that before it became a classic. I think Water was the pre-1971 WGFA. Such a short period.
