Apparently Universal is putting out a new Pete compilation called Truancy at the end of June. It also features a new track: Guantanamo. I don't really have an opinion of the song based on the short preview, however I'm not a big fan of Pete's "groaning" style of singing here.

The song is now available on spotify. Don't really know what to make of it. Very blues, very political.
But I like it. Great production, great chorus.

Pete's newest old track is up for grabs. He only recorded one and he's using it to raise money for he and Roger's charity... Pete Townshend & Eddie Vedder came together for a one-night only charity show to celebrate The Who and benefit Teen Cancer America. Now they’re offering a chance to win Eddie’s personal autographed electric guitar and a one-of-a-kind recording of Pete performing “I’m One.” Go to CrowdRise for your chance to win. Donate to Teen Cancer America now for your chance to win a piece of rock and roll history: • Every $10 gets you an entry to win Eddie Vedder’s signed 1992 Schecter ‘PT' electric guitar. • Every $25 gets you an entry to win a one-of-a-kind solo recording of “I’m One” by Pete Townshend. Note that entries are cumulative. $100 gets you 10 entries for the guitar and 4 entries for the recording. Campaign ends at 12 pm ET on 5/21/15. Donate Now

Guantanamo is a grower - I am really enjoying the layered instrumentation on headphones. Also, I'm looking forward to the finished version of How Can I Help You. Should be a good one, as we already got to know it as a very pretty song.
I've done a pass for a transcription of the new song. Is there anything I missed or misunderstood?
Pete Townshend – Guantanamo
Down in Guantanamo We still got the ball and chain Down in Guantanamo We still got the ball and chain
That pretty piece of Cuba Resort to cause men pain When you light up in Cuba You won’t feel the same again
Down in Guantanamo Still waiting for the big cigars Down in Guantanamo Still waiting for the big cigars
Been a breach of promise Still guilty with no charge There’s smoke in the forest And the tumour is growing large
Down in Guantanamo/We still got the ball and chain (2x)
There’s a long road to travel For justice to make its claim Let’s bring down the gavel Let the prisoner say his name
We still got the ball and chain (x2) Let the prisoner say his name

Hmm, I think I prefer the tracklisting of "Coolwalkingsmoothtalkingstraightsmokingfirestoking"... Where are "Give Blood", "A Little Is Enough" and "Slit Skirts"? I don't consider "You Came Back" to be "the very best". Same holds true for "Face Dances Part 2" and "White City Fighting". Nice tracks, but "the very best"? No.

I have to agree with you. What a sad, pathetic set list for a best-of. If this is meant to introduce recent or potentially new fans to Pete's solo music, I don't think that it will do it. And for the rest of us, we already have all of these tracks (except for the new ones) multiple times.

Yeah, an executive who's never heard Pete's music.

Sounds to me from the press release that How Can I Help You might be about Rabbit's issues. Just a guess

i think that his voice sounds too old for that direction of music. the song is cool, political one par exellance, everything is great but he would to find somebody else to sing it if he will make an album (who knows?). for example, imagine the song with Durga McBroom-Hudson instead him....

I think he's been obsessed since the 80s about the idea of concept album- iron man, psychoderelict, lifehouse box,floss/boy who heard music etc, to the point that he's forgotten about that age old idea of putting out an album of unrelated songs Even if it was a scoop 5 using polished tracks rather than demos I think it'd be very worthwhile
