Yeah, I know. We already talked about this But, the majority of the song (I assume everything except the final riff) was written two years ago. What with it being a tribute to John and all, who died exactly two years ago today. And...another wink for good measure

I don't know if you can say that for sure. He had the riff in 2000, but he may well also have had the lyrics but not worked them into place.
Lyrically it appears to be a tribute to John more as an afterthought, it really isn't particularly'John specific' atall. If John hadn't died the lyrics could have been equally well applied to any one of 100,000 people.
I wouldn't be surprised to discover that PT had the constituent parts of this song kicking around for a good few years before actually stapling them all together following the 2000 tour.

That's true, the music could have been old. I just assume he wrote it after John's death. Actually I think it may have even been after the 2002 tour had finished since the early bits they did live I think had a different progression. Of course that could have just been so it would fit into the jam, I just have a feeling it wasn't completely finished until more recently.
I really doubt any of the lyrics were written while John was still alive though. They aren't really "John specific" but I'm sure John's death is what inspired him to write them. I don't think Pete would say it's about John if it was just pieced together from old lyrics lying around. He says he wrote it in New York during the 2002 tour so I believe it...

havent gone as far as getting his brothers record yet tho. I picked up a couple of his a few years back for next to no money. Surprised me by not being truly appalling. Having said that, would I buy them on their own merits? No.

I wonder if anyone on here has heard that album. I wonder if anyone has heard it Here, me. Her album is not exactly worldshaking, but there's a couple of really good songs on it. If one likes the weird Kate Bush stuff (like me), this could be worth a listen.
