After hearing how much better Ball and Chain sounds compared to Guantanamo I wish they had revisited How Can I Help You Sir and Uncertain Girl as well.

After hearing how much better Ball and Chain sounds compared to Guantanamo I wish they had revisited How Can I Help You Sir and Uncertain Girl as well. My thoughts exactly! Love how the track has evolved to much more robust and rocking compared to Pete's solo take. Maybe Zak could've had more liberties on the drums. However, it is very promising. Rog's vocals plus the production seem to be in much better shape than on Endless Wire.

Yeah. With Sardy as producer Pete has gone from 'you will like my half-baked demos' to reshaping them into attractive rock songs with an outsider. See also the bridge in Hero Ground Zero. Say what you want about the song, it has a head, a tail, and some changes and dynamics. All credit to Pete for finding himself a new Glyn Johns. He didn't have to, but he did.

The new song sounds awesome.
Daltrey's voice is AMAZING!!
The arrangement is awesome.
The production is awesome.
Pete combines a short guitar solo with the drop - AWESOME.
But I hate the topic of the lyric. Pete the social justice warrior.
I have to almost ignore the meaning of the words.
I don't like music mixed with politics.
Pete can't play parts of Tommy anymore because it causes him mental anguish.
Why take this kind of risk at this point of the Who's career? I don't mind if it was Pete's solo stuff, but not the Who.
Give me the old Who subjects of girls, drinking, and being insecure.

It might be mildly weird to have 70somethjngs sing about girls and beer ....
I doubt the whole album will be political though- I’d say there’s a decent mix

First of all Roger with his outspoken Brexit views and now "racist" Boris Johnson at the Tory party conference have used Baba as his intro music. I'd really like Pete to come out and condemn this that the right-wing Tory party are using The Who's music in this way especially when Pete in the past has been quoted as saying he's more left-wing and after especially after he stopped Michael Moore using WGFA for one of his movies... I remember The Stones being upset when Trump used their music without permission so I'm hoping a similar thing has happened here as I'd be a bit p****d if Pete has allowed this to happen

We can to some extent in the U.S. but it’s harder in the UK. I try to avoid any license of my songs for ANY political purpose. Comments are closed for this. I don’t want to have to justify myself here. This is not something I would have agreed to had I been asked or warned in advance

Still I'm glad Pete is unhappy about this

Have to be honest didn't really love that, just seems to meander along without going anywhere . Might change after a few listens or when it's incorporated into an album but definitely my least favourite so far

On the first bite, it is definitely the weakest of the three singles. Nothing major wrong with it, but it is just bland, no hooks or anything to come back to.

It's interesting how Pete has posted noodlings/demos etc. which could be made much better meaningful/interesting/fun etc etc. tunes than these.... no doupt could easily do great record (just like he did with GSOMR tune) by using them but simply has no interest or is "blind/deaf" to his own material..

I like I Don't Want to Get Wise but I'm not totally blown away by it. It sounds like a minor variation on They Made My Dreams Come True to me.

I had high hopes after hearing the first single, which had a mature yet strong sound. But I find each subsequent single has been noticeably weaker, with the maturity veering a little too much into softer MOR waters. We'll have to see what the album brings, but I must admit I'm not quite as enthused about it now as I was when I first heard Ball and Chain.

Tower Bridge? That's probably moored in St Katharine Docks then, incidentally, the same place The Jam are photographed on the cover of their classic "Snap!" compilation.
