It’s not quite remastering when you’re using the mastered album as source It’s more like fiddling with a graphic equaliser from the old days
If the files for the individual tracks were available it’d be different
I used to have great fun playing with tracks when they were released on the back of the rock band video game. I don’t know why they weren’t released as a mixing desk application. Much more interesting than the game itself

I am too lazy to go through all that work done by Whitefang to fiddle with the eq. I am impressed with what he's done.
I would love for someone to do the whole album and post it somewhere.

In a recent interview, Daltrey states: Meanwhile, Roger reveals that although Townshend has been writing new songs, he isn't sure if The Who will make another album. He notes that WHO, the band's acclaimed 2019 studio effort, sold so few copies that "it cost me money to do it."I found this interesting as I understood that the new record did quite well in the charts. Obviously the money isn't in the record sales anymore, but the claim that the record costed him sounds strange. I wonder if it is cause of Dave Sardy's producer pay cheque and the extensive personnel used?

Pete had actually listed costs at one point years ago as to why a new album wasn’t viable He went from demo costs to studio time to staff to publishing etc And I know to get to the charts these days is very low numbers compared to the 80s/90s Live shows make the money, or if you’re lucky enough to have your song picked up by a movie/advert
I haven’t seen album sales for it but can imagine without a real tour to back it up , their income from it was weak despite the high chart positions in some territories Although it did fall down those charts fairly quickly

Roger's recent Zoom interview made some news with quotes about the recent album. Here's few quotes: -- "I think my favorite song of all is 'Beads on One String,' believe it or not," says Roger. "It's not really a rock song…but there's something about the message that I really, really like. I think it's a masterful piece of songwriting."
Regarding the Pete Townshend-penned song's message, Daltrey notes, "[T]he world at the moment, there are so many people pulling it apart. We desperately need someone who's going to pull us together, or some thing. Music can always pull us together. That song is a pulling-us-together song, and the more that gets out there and gets listened to...the better for all of us." -- Daltrey says he's heard the reworked version, but questions whether it's any better than the original.
"It's different, and it encompasses some of the orchestration we've had done to do on stage, but not all of it," he points out. -- Meanwhile, Daltrey reveals that he "didn't like" the production on the WHO album, noting that he thought it was "overproduced," adding, "I didn't hit it off with the producer."-- Not hitting it off with the producer is one better than actually hitting the producer, I suppose, as happened with Glyn Johns

Dutch webstore has a deluxe version of the album listed for preorder, including "Live at Kingston", so something from the recent PRYZM shows. It should be released at the end of October. Hoping the album itself gets a remastering treatment. www.soundsdelft.nl/detail/4095242/cd/who/who_-deluxe-

It’s quite common to do this. Often labelled “tour edition” with an extra cd or dvd With live tracks or single mixes Even the roger/wilko album did it
I can’t see it being remastered as there’s no need. Roger sounded unhappy about the mix , but a remix would cost money and the sales volume of this wouldn’t warrant them spending anything on it

“The BEADS ON ONE STRING remix was an adventure to try to recapture some of the subtleties of my first solo demo. I love the studio version, but this remix by Myles Clarke and myself returns to the original synthesiser demo shared with me by my co-writer Josh Hunsacker. I also play bass rather than the genius Pino Palladino (I’ve got some nerve) and we removed the real drums and returned to computer drum tracks programmed by my co-producer Myles Clarke. We also restored Roger’s vocal track to its first incarnation which is more heartfelt. This is a gentler version of this song, less demanding perhaps, less bullying about our need to cut each other space, each on our own path. Why does it need to be more gentle than the album version? Because it must stand alone in a period when each of us is tempted to blame someone else for our troubles, maybe even God whoever we take her/him/both to be. I’m hoping it sounds less rock, and more modern indie-pop to new listeners.”
~ Pete Townshend

Kingston is a great little gig! Pete and Rog are in good moods, funny, and definitely up for it. Roger sounds excellent. Very pleased I bought it.

I hope they include Roger's "updated" version of The Kids Are Alright on it! Referring to introduction Roger gives, when did he do it before? I seem to remember it is on TKAA of Live in Boston DVD. Haven't watched it for a long time, so might be mistaken.

Haven't watched it for a long time, so might be mistaken. He does it on the Teenage Cancer Trust Concert in 2003! Aside from that, I don't think i've heard it anywhere else. First time I heard it was at the Kingston-gig, never knew it existed before.

Ah, haven't heard TCT 2003 Found the clip of TKAA off the Live At Boston and he does it indeed there as well: Of course there was some improvisation on TCT 2000, more by Pete:

Ok ....I like bits of it now, only bits tho. I found endless wire so much better, the grreat or good songs on Endless wire are better than anything on this new album.
I was waiting for the shutters of our HMV to open to get it,as I always will be for any WHO/Solo product, that will never ever change as it hasnt for 37 years.
