We have a winner! I don't know how you got that as I'm still confused by the "reverberating guitar" and "double-time shuffle"! The reviews will probably now be coming a lot faster as they're more obviously revealing. So hold onto your hats.... Hah, I think it was the "tambourine" and "cute and amusing lyric" that made me think of it.

Looks like a clue may be in order!
I think I can see what's pulling you all off track...so ignore the "protest" reference in the review. The big hint lies in the musical description. With one word.
"The pop art specialists on another way-out offering. Strong bass, drums, guitar, lineup very forceful. There's a jerky approach which becomes fascinating after a couple of spins."
If nobody gets it today the big revelation will come tomorrow.

The real me...?
I often don’t think of this as a single for some reason. Maybe coz it wasn’t released in all regions

I'm the same with The Real Me, also possibly because it doesn't have much of a history of appearing on compilations alongside the other singles.
And, unfortunately, it's not appearing as the answer for this review!
I'll give one final clue. Every guess so far has been a single from the wrong decade.

Surely had it been a Pete vocal the review would’ve made some comment so I’ll go you better you bet based on the bass comment and going down well at parties

You've gone into the wrong decade!
Methinks it's time for the big reveal.
Review Number 5 was for the "jerky" and "O.K. but not marvellous".....

I suppose back in 1965 the stop-start time signature may have seemed a bit odd.
Still, "OK but not marvellous"? Then again, after checking the singles chart for the week of My Generation's release, I'm not surprised the reviewer held such a lacklustre opinion whilst that musical leviathan Ken Dodd was holding the top spot...

So with the previous mystery solved, this "shuffle-shaker" should be a little easier to identify....
Review Number 6
Here's a group I like immensely and their absorbing sound matches their gimmick name, The Who. ******* is a pounding shuffle-shaker, with surf-like counter-harmonies behind the main lyric. It's insidious and insistent, with an arresting backing, a sort of blend of Mersey beat and surfing. Keep your eye on this one!

It's going to have to be a case of Unhappy Jack unfortunately....he's nowhere to be seen with this one!
And also, it's a no to Call Me Lightning (which I must say I've always considered to be a criminally overlooked little number).

Anyway anyhow anywhere on the basis of the harmonies reference , and mentioning the band name as a gimmick suggests a very early single. Although I suspect this song would’ve garnered more mention of the heavy sound....

No correct guesses so far....I can't really give a clue, aside from saying the biggest clue is in the description. Which probably sounds stupid, but which you'll probably immediately recognise once the song is revealed.
I will say though, one of you has been very close!

I was going to give a clue for this seventh review, as I did think it may present a bit of a curveball. But then I realised maybe too much information is already given away within....
Review Number 7
You will of course already be familiar with this item, because it's extracted from their best-selling LP *******. And therein lies its main handicap - for I would have thought that so many people have already bought the album there's no-one left who needs the single!
The Who at its most pulverising, vibrant and electrifying best. Nothing subtle or progressive about it - simply hard-driving, block-busting Rock. And great of its kind, provided you don't mind the roof being blown off!
As I say, the album's triumph must curtail sales of this single - but even so, I fancy it could make a profound mark on the hit parade.

Trying to think of singles that came well after album release date which is kinda ruling out Tommy. I’ll try baba o riley That's what I was thinking, seeing as how "See Me Feel Me" was released as a single over a year and a half later after Tommy was released. Can it be "The Real Me"?

Can it be The Real Me....? Nah! But I will say the last two guesses were in the correct decade. You're gonna hate me when this is revealed because it's not one that normally leaps to mind when talking of Who singles anyway...
