When a couple of years ago they initially announced the idea that would become 'Rock n Chips', the intention was to show Del as a young Mod. Now that may have given a very good idea of how Buckley would have come across as Moon! Sadly though they changed their minds and shifted the era of the story backwards by a handful of years... damn right...i recall now the scene of Del is listening to the music with headphones and moving his hands as he's listening to some Classical music aswell but when he's to take down a headphones, he's to put that vynil in a jacket of The Who debut lp and says "The Who is the best..." (i presume that yu're to remmember this funny scene). I don't see this new serie yet, but Del really doesn't look "ex-hippie" to me, as i read in an aricle that young Del is gonna be a hippie later on in Rock' n 'Chips btw, Only Fools & Horses is very popular here; so much popular that H.E. UK (ex)ambassador said in an interview, given to the local newspapers 5-6 years ago, that he's suprised but dissapointed about that huge popularity because, as he said, BBC gived for free to our national tv alot of "educational and worthy tv series" yes, James Buckley is look like young Keith Moon. Remember that episode with Del , conducting the orchestra with his headphones after taking them off he turns around and says . " I don't care what any body says ...... You can't whack The Who "

Now it seems Roger wants to write the script himself - and his own autobiography while he is at it. Daily Star-article

Well, you at least have to hand it to The Star for getting the best quote yet from Roger about the film that he began work on in 2000.
"If I sat down for six weeks with a good writer, I could get it done."

Pete is trialling a new device during the concert to combat the problem
Great - So one of them has a suspect voice and admits to being worrided by singing Quad And the other is trialling new technology! Should be entertaining at least!

Well it's the shows where things go wrong that often turn out to be the best ones with The Who. Gets 'em all angry and riled up and that. So you now have double your regular chance of seeing them really cook with gas!

That used to be the case. It is no longer because they are OVER IT.
There's no passion left for performing live with The Who because the dynamic of The WHo has been so badly broken. Pete no longer plays at the type of volume and intensity in order to expect the best from himself, so if it goes wrong, expect them to just apologise, play a few standard numbers and politely walk off the stage. Roger might throw his mic. and storm off to cool down, but Pete certainly won't be smashing any guitars.

I watched 'The Actors Studio' the other evening with Robert Downey Jr. He would have been perfect as The Loon - same mad brown eyes!

None of these people play drums! thats true......but with some hollywood wizardry that would be easy to overcome. Downey Jr is very american, which i forgot, maybe he wouldnt be suitable hmm

None of these people play drums! As mentioned earlier in the thread, Jeremy Piven is allegedly a drummer - who worships Keith.

I can't believe how long this thread on a non-starter has went on for! Very true... but with such a lack of Who-ish activity, what else do we discuss! R.D Jr did a great London accent in Sherlock Holmes and remember, Keith's accent was affected - he didn't really speak like an English toff, he was from Wembley! But it doesn't really matter, like Boris says.... it'll never happen.

Speaking of the Moon movie...
Have you seen the plot of the new movie "Get Him To The Greek" starring Russell Brand? A young man has to get a crazed room-destroying rocker to a venue to perform.
This is almost exactly the plot of Dougal Butler's Keith Moon script that he almost got made before Roger Daltrey put the official kibosh on it.
I actually went to imdb to see if Dougal Butler was listed anywhere in the writing credits. No but, in a way, I guess his film got made (and before Roger's).

Please watch this video. A renowned actor, a real rock and roll drummer, and looks just like Keith, all rolled into one person. Any other considerations are silly. www.youtube.com/watch?v=4vBWs6ROMiI

His personal nerdiness should not be an issue. He sure looks like him, might not drum like him, but he can learn to imitate drumming style better than a non musician actor who looks nothing like Keith.

His personal nerdiness makes much of his acting (Michael Cera, another example). I'm sure he could do a great job, he IS a great actor. We all have different perceptions of actors but as I said - i'm all open for surprises.
But my vote is for someone unknown and if not that, then i'm open to Jeremy Piven. IF he could get the voice down!
Then again, I would have an extremly hard time seeing Pete, John and Roger portraited so i'd rather not see this movie ever happening.

Anything with Russell Brand should be avoided at all costs. A self promoter with no noticeable talent just like the rest of the worthless movie and music nobodies that seem to materialise out of thin air and if they are seen and talked about by a bunch of other nobodies, then the mindless twits who notice idiots like him think that they are talented and famous, which is all it takes nowadays to be a somebody in the nobody world of hollywood and brain dead Lady Gaga type music. I am so glad I am old enough to know what good music sounds like. And what good movies look like. As for a movie being made of Moon, forget it. Nobody would be a convincing actor to even try to fool us hard core fans into believing that he can portray Moon and his life and his drumming even a teeny bit. It will never be made, and if it is, I certainly won't watch it.

But since I have no personal control I can only lobby against such insulting suggestions as Mike Meyers, and the bewildering Jeremy Piven(?). If it was done an actor who plays drums and looks remarkably like Keith would be less frustrating. At least it would indicate they were trying. Biopics and sports movies are the worst. Jason Statham with a wig as Roger?

Was just listening to Quentin Tarantino talking to Charlie Rose about how biopics is his least favourite genre. He said that if he would do a biopic, he would make it occur in ONE day. Like a movie about Elvis would only be about the day he steps in to Sun Records.
Wouldn't that perhaps be a better format for this Keith-flick? It would certainly be different.
With that in mind, what day of his life would you personally like to see?

What do you make of this? (sorry for bringing him up all the time!) Well, he sure knows how to play a narcisistic drug abuser. As far as drumming, he looks like he has the talent of a street paint bucket drummer.(not sarcastic)
