Yes a Jedward movie might be the Spieworld of 2011, but my point is more that if you reverse engineer BIG movies to their original idea, do many of them sound like hits? Saying a movie about Keith is just a drummer is like saying titanic is just a boat that sank- how would that be made into a movie? The aviator- guy with a disorder becomes eccentric...who'd care?
The list is endless...but what resonates with a movie is the human element of empathy, transformation, character, highs and lows etc....it's not the mere one line fact of drummer in a band...
There's every chance a movie would be s**t, but I'm just saying in the right hands with the right script,it Could be great

I suppose if they did try to steer away from the folklore/myth and called it simply "Moon" instead of some daft play on his antics etc. then it might open up to a larger audience but Who-heads will be fiercly critical of it I'm sure and others will be expecting Cobwebs and Strange for 120 minutes! Tbh,the only biog. movies I've watched have been "Ray",the Elvis one with Kurt Russel and Gary Buseys' Buddy Holly - biogs generally don't interest me because they are going to be factional.

yea "Ray" was quite good...and Cash was ok
frost v nixon was a good movie and focused on such a short timespace so thats another angle that could be taken
and to take a leaf from Gainsbourg, you could have a movie with Keith the musician as one character and Keith's demon(s) as another character...
i'm very curious to see how the Freddie Mercury movie turns out... interesting it's going to end with the triumphant Live Aid..but no word on where it starts.. or if it focuses on the band or his private life,or what it means to be gay in the 70s UK,his music, band fights etc...
Numerous Kennedy bios have been done to varying degrees of success
i dont mean to sound like i'm saying a Moon movie would be amazing - the odds are stacked against it !! but i would love to see it done in the right hands.. and hearing its painfully slow gestation and Daltrey's objections to many scripts, it does give me confidence that someone cares enough not to let this be rushed out without due care

But yeah,I suppose we should be grateful that it (Moonies) hasn't been rushed out

Hey! Way back in the thread I actually said he might be the one that can pull it off. Everytime I see him I think of him as Moon, and if he could pull the voice off he would probably be the best suited for the part. IMO.

I have the last drumstick Keith ever used in concert on ebay at the moment. I should cancel the auction and lend it to the production company. It would be cool for them to use his last one in a new movie about him

Did you take pictures at the Shepperton show, or did you just get one of his last sticks? I'm sure he used more than one stick that day, so you have one of the sticks he used, or do you have the stick that he ended the show with?

Over two years have passed since the last update. I'm beginning to think this movie may not happen.....

40 years since Keith Moon's death, but they didn't make a movie. that's a shame.

The times have changed so much.
Noone would understand what Moon was about. Society is so different.
Humor has changed.
The only way it would work if it was presented in a straightforward way. But, Moon was not a serious character. You can't make a movie about drunken craziness and tomfoolery. Would not make a good movie.
Besides, aside from music made 40 years ago, who cares about the Who? They are not Who they were.

Looks to be in pretty good hands judging by the producers and writers. But yeah, i'll believe it when I see it!

I heard or read somewhere that Roger was very, very specific about how he wants this done. He doesn't want a biography about The Who but a film about Keith. Similar to "Love and Mercy" about Brian Wilson. It was a movie about Brian...not the Beach Boys.
