well my point was who cared about Jake LaMotta yet Raging Bull is now seen as the greatest movie of the 80s... if the film is done right, it will go beyond the fanbase That's correct.

But don't you think De Niro taking the starring role had a lot to do with that? Exactly. Folks, let's face it, The Who are not exactly held in as high esteem as some of their contemporaries from the same period (Beatles, Stones, Zeppelin) and a lot of that is their own doing...

But don't you think De Niro taking the starring role had a lot to do with that? of course it did, but that was as a result of getting a heavyweight (no pun intended) director behind the project... (well, actually deniro brought the script to scorsese...) but a quality director will attract a quality actor and script... michael mann did ali....not one of his best but still...

I agree, but still, who right now, outside of hardcore Who fans like all of us, really cares?? Keith wasn't really an a**hole celebrity who waved his dick in public and purposely sang a banned lyric on live TV or anything else like Jim Morrison did (since someone brought up the Doors movie). Yes, Keith did some crazy (and unsavory things) but in the end he's perceived by the casual fan as nothing more than a great drummer who drank and drugged too much and died. No one seems that interested in his life beyond Who fandom...

I don't know, a great Moon movie could be fantastic. I think Roger has said he can't find a scriptwriter that can 'write' the real Moon. Well, one of those guys in L.A (as good as they are) aren't going to IMHO! It needs to be someone who is passionate about the subject matter, someone on here maybe? I mean how hard can it be to write with all the subject matter out there? Personally I would start the film with the Neil Boland tradegy, a real life changing event for Keith... that really changed Keith from Happy Jack to Doctor Jimmy.

I think someone close to him, preferably TOWNSHEND should get off his ass and start righting a script.

^He had a very violent side but how is it any different from any other alcoholic a**hole who has a violent side? Keith just happened to be world famous...and one of the best drummers ever...

Roger was asked in Dublin last week how this was progressing .... he said he's still positive about it, but the problem's been getting the right script
although it looks like nothing's being done, he said his work has prevented about 12 Moon bio films in past 15yrs and that we should be thankful... they were all as he put it "Carry on Keith" movies

So how will Roger "Scorsese" Daltreys film differ? It will be Carry On Keith Part 2. There is no story to tell apart from the fact that he was an extremely talented drummer, and that can not be filmed .

There is no story to tell apart from the fact that he was an extremely talented drummer, and that can not be filmed . I think you may be looking at it in a very close-minded way.. there are a thousand stories to tell.. it would seem what Roger is getting at is to take away the directors who have a checklist of "keiths mad moments" and insert as many as possible into 90mins it could be focused on his childhood, what made him the man he became...and end with the Who at Woodstock it could start at the first single, end with his death and focus on his life in the band it could focus on his relationships and the man he was with the band a mere backdrop.... to say there's no story to non-fans is crazy.... think of some successful movies and back track to the idea - would you have anticipated a movie loved by millions??? retarded guy gets lucky a few times... middle class couple divorce.. boat sinks.. man drives a cab.. man loses a fight... bad ideas and we've just dismissed forrest gump, kramer v kramer, titanic, taxi driver,rocky.. its the colour the story is painted with that makes the difference

Rock bios are cr*p. Brian Jones, Morrison blah blah. Who gives a toss what Keith got upto in his spare time? Most of it is ugly. Nothing worse than a spoilt child being, well, a spoilt child.
