Great news (maybe)
Obviously lets hope this stuff actually makes it into the set. At least a couple and I'll be happy.

----maybe these songs will be performed/recorded as much for the who movie doc as be regularly part of a new setlist?...either way, i think it's GREAT news and WELCOME new old who songs!!...this is positively good news, imo-------

Sounds really, really promising. At least they are going to try to refresh. Shame on Rabbit for not knowing the Who back catalogue by heart, though!

There's an interview around somewhere that describes Rabbit's audition with The Who. He didn't know ANY of the songs when he went in to play with them--it was like, just start and I'll play along.
Not a fan, I guess.

Heh. Well, it does describe Rabbit's style. He's good, and he was just what Pete was looking for.

(Strange) The heading for Rabbit's diary entry WAS "Now I'm a farmer" and he comments that it's a really good song,so this must be one of the songs being considered for a possible live airing.

That would be a shocker. As for Rabbit not knowing the albums listed, it's not really surprising. He has to be somewhat familiar with Quadrophenia though...he played on the 96/97 tours.

you can't really guess if they are new or not ? then since if he don't know their catalog that well they can new or old songs. He doesn't know.
Altough I would love to hear, it would sadly be not as good as it could be because whammy bar soloing during the song will take momemtum out of it.
and frankly I think it will be same setlist as always repeated in same order and same way in every show...

If Rabbit hasn't heard most of the band's albums, and has previously had no interest in hearing them (which I find very surprising!), then "a load of songs I've never heard before" probably ain't generally gonna refer to a wadge of uber-rare material. However, the message that diary post sends (aside from the possible hint in the title) is that the band are rehearsing material which Rabbit is unfamiliar with, which does point to a diversion of some kind from the usual 'hits' set. How much of a diversion remains to be seen, but it sounds as if we're going to at least get some material that has never been played onstage during Rabbit's time with the band.

Don't forget B-sides, singles and cover versions----Leavin Here, Baby Don't You Do It( Petes Favorite), Pictures of Lilly and Join Together. Maybe we should take a survey of what we want to hear and submit it to Rachel? JD

From Third of Never's member posting at Fineinmysky. Third of Never just released a recording with Rabbit:
"Just wanted to let everybody know that you're in for some real treats via the setlist on the WHO tour later this year, along with the promised new material. Their (possibly) last tour could end up being their best."

Interesting. I'd actually forgotten about the inclusion of new material, so all in all the setlist could be in for quite a shake-up.

----possibly whilst going through the lerner who film project, somebody may have realised, at some point, "hey we have all these shows, all this footage through the years, but in the best footage we have, they all contain the same songs!"...not that extreme, i think, or hope, but it is like very exciting to hear word of new old songs possibly being played on this tour, as well as new material...there must be a clear dozen? excellent pt/who compositions that were not given their proper airing on stage, songs that pete and roger and band could play and film today: join together, daily records, slip kid, the song is over, little billy, guitar and pen, in a hand or face, how many friends - plus stuff from the sell out and my generation cd's-----------

I actually think it would be pretty interesting if some sort of "petition" (but really more like a request) site was set up where fans could vote for the songs they want to hear on the tour.
Some Rush fans did this on the last couple tours, they made a list of every song and you could vote for the five you most wanted to hear. Apparently the band actually paid some attention to it.
I kinda doubt Pete or Roger would listen if Who fans did something similar, but I still think it would be interesting. I'm mainly just curious to see what the results would be.

pete seems really up for it! as if he is trying to prove how good the who still are That's the impression I've had since last summer, when he seemed to have a change of heart on Who matters, and started posting epic diaries and an essay of the role of the Who in today's world. I remember him writing The Who est éternel, which simply means that the Who has become immortal, and will outlive Roger and even Pete. I think that since Pete realised that, he thought 'well, if we are such legends, let's have some fun with it one last time'. Hence a new album, extensive touring, coverage of the tour through CDs, DVDs and Who TV, and a refreshed setlist. I know we'll still have to wait for how all turns out, but this is the gut feeling I've had since last August.
