I think this solo of Pete's from Sister Disco is just breathtaking. It's by no means a shredding solo like he sometimes does these days but it's more like a lead-rhythm solo , in my opinion and Pete nails it (particularly around the part starting at 4:10 )
Any other favourites ?

Naked eye always stood out to me as well as amazing journey/sparks at Leeds

I genuinely believe it takes more skill to be a great rhythm guitarist than a lead player...
I've played with endless guitarists who can solo brilliantly, but haven't got a clue when it comes to chord work... They know the shapes, but they're sloppy and slow to change.
I used to wail away on the upper frets, but now I much prefer to get creative with the chords... Slip little licks in here and there like Pete does. I get so much more pleasure from that than soloing.

It's a tie for me. Any of the live versions of "Young Man Blues" or "Amazing Journey", pre 1978. They all give me chills no matter how many times I hear them. Don't ask which is best. They all are.

I get so much more pleasure from that than soloing I think I agree. Not saying it doesn't take skill but there's loads of guys who can do the soloing on the upper frets of a guitar but the way Pete plays more rhythm orientated solos is a lot more skillful I think.

The solo electric performance of magic bus on jools is a real showcase for his skills as lead rhythm

I like the fact that you have to approach things differently... You have to think more about dynamics, sustain and rhythm more. It's almost like being a drummer really, playing with the off beats. I think Dreaming From The Waist is one of the best examples... Especially the live version.
