Good news if they're new stuff in this book. That's the problem with these books when you're a big or hardcore fan : it's always the same well-known stories, facts, analyses and critics. George Tremlett's The Who (from 1975 !) is also pretty focused on the pre-Tommy years, with a lot of quotes from 65-67 interviews.

this is without a doubt a nice book not only about The Who but also about that atmosphere of 60s. however, i personally prefer The Who as "the elder statesmen of rock that they became in the 1970s" than "snot-nosed adolescent punks". great review, though.

The Telegraph reviewed the book as well.

Thanks! I agree that once they really hit their stride, starting with Tommy, they were amazing, but their punkish 60s incarnation has its own charm as well.

That was a good interview.
Interesting point about Dogs and Blur. Gotta say though, from a literal point of view I've always considered How Can You Do It Alone, especially the demo version, to sound like a prototype Parklife.
I'll certainly be buying the book, I'm just waiting for the price to drop somewhat. I've grown much too used to having it good with one penny purchases from Amazon....
