I just got the remastered IOW DVD, has anyone else got it? What do you think. The vocals and John's base sound much better but, Petes guitar and Keiths drums still sound tiny in the mix. I really don't notice much difference with the film quality either.
Great interview with Pete included as a bonus. JD

I'm not going to buy it. I already have the VHS and the original DVD. That's enough.

Just got it today.
My review is this: If you don't have the old version, I think it's definetely a good buy. If you have the old version, probably not. (although I haven't watched the Pete interview yet)
Luckily for me I never have actually owned a copy before (just taped it off tv) so it turned out fine for me. The wrong order and weird editing is still annoying, but to me it's not too annoying to regret buying it. This is actually what put me off from buying the original DVD, I heard so much about the bad editing that I thought it wouldn't be worth it. But there is quite a lot that is just fine. Everything after Heaven and Hell and before Tommy is "correct" enough.
The bass and the drums definetely sound better. I thought the drums sounded much fuller. The picture is slightly better, but it's not real drastic. I never really thought there was a huge problem with the picture anyway...
So...yeah. I'd say the slight improvements are enough to make it a more worthwile buy than the original, but not quite worth buying a second copy.

It's worth it to me just to have that awful hum on Rog's mike toned way down, barely noticeable most of the time.
Pete sounds and looks wonderful in the interview-dude must have discovered the wonderful world of Botox. Is Murray Lerner the most deferential interviewer ever, or does he just have osteoporosis?
Aside from the improvement in sound quality, a couple of scenes look abbreviated or different. I'm glad they left off the phoney laugh track from the audience. I guess a comparison study is in order. I also noticed a couple of weird skips.

By the way..
I read somewhere else that on the new DVD, there is a change at the end of MAGIC BUS - the part where Pete's effect box appears to be broken.
Is this true?
I read they put "real" chords in place of the old "cracking" sounds, because there were people thinking that their DVD-player was broken.

I didn't really think about it when I was watching it and I haven't done a side by side comparison, but I think that is true.
I do remember thinking during the part where there was supposed to be a guitar cutting in and out "that doesn't sound nearly as bad as I remember..." but didn't put any more thought into it.

You've just given me one more reason to avoid buying it! What next? CGI'ing the band into modern clothing because they're dressed in a manner that's not suitable for present-day tastes?
