Except for the Who on Ice tour it seems they never played Join Together like the studio version but always the Join Together Blues. Is this correct? - strange thing, cause actually I always thought this could really be a smasher live

Some of the rehearsal of the 2002 version may be included with the Boston DVD coming out next month. JD

JD, do you refer to the rehearsals that were to be seen on Pete's website? I didn't see those unfortunaltely - so they played Join Together there? What a pity the song didn't make it into the setlist. None of the rehearsals will be included in the upcoming DVD, however, I checked with Play.com and they give the exact setlist and extras - no rehearsals unfortunately

On one of those videos, you could hear the backing track of "Join Together" playing in the background. I don't know if they actually rehearsed that song. That's a pity, and a missed opportunity Maybe they will release them as a separate DVD?

It is a bit odd, since it seems to me like it's song that EVERYONE would appreciate.
There's songs like Behind Blue Eyes or Pinball Wizard that the casual fans know from the radio or compilations, but there's people like the folks that inhabit these chat boards who get bored with that stuff.
Then occasionally there's things like Naked Eye or Sea and Sand that hardcore fans appreciate a bit more but the casual fans aren't really familar with.
Join Together is a song that would make everyone happy. It's on the compilations and pretty much everyone knows it, and they never do it live.
Maybe (hopefully) next time? (not holding breath, but crossing fingers)

ralf and tom i was actually lucky enough to catch the complete rehearsal, there was no join together played. to me any incarnation of join together would be pretty cool.....i really do dig the join together blues version as well as the full length version they played in 89.

In 2002, Matt Kent posted 15-20 minutes of a rehearsal and Join Together was played. The rehearsal your thinking of was earlier this year. JD

Yeah, the backing track was playing at the beginning of the video...since I saw that in 2002 I've been trying to figure out if they actually played it, or if Matt just thought it would make a nice intro. I assume it was because they played it though...
