I was on this other board and some kid was debating whether or not to go to one of the aussie shows. He kept complaining that they were old farts- hmph I set him right soon after.

Don't know much about them.
They're an Australian band. Finky doesn't think much of them, but she or Lickster might be your best bets for information.

I heard They supported The R*ll*#g *t@#es on their last tour. Thought it was funny that an Australian Band trying to be English was Supporting an English Band trying to be American! ;D

You Am I have a big reputation down here. The problem may be that Tim Rogers looks alot like a young Ray Davies and has a penchant for doing windmills, scissor leaps and wearing boiler suits - much like one of his heroes !!!

The St@*n*s, Mule? well I dont hate them, I dont own any of their records though. I have a version of Alex Chilton doing it's the 'singer not the song' So I guess thats one Rolling Stones Song I own. but I just think they get more credit than they are due maybe..especially when it comes to 'blues' music...

I say you need to pick up Beggars Banquet, Let it Bleed, Sticky Fingers, and Exile on Main Street.
It may change your mind.

Hmm. That could prove interesting then. I wonder if he'll have the nerve. Well this is what Tim reckons... "In Spain a couple of weeks ago, I threw out my shoulder doing that [he mimics the windmill movement that's become a trademark, borrowed from the Who's Pete Townshend]. I may have to stop playing guitar for a while because the tendons and bones have been completely sullied and I'm having to get these cortisone injections." I started laughing as he told this tale, assuming it was a bit of a joke, but by the end of it my laughter ends in an apology. Rogers just laughs and says, "No, it is funny." "People are asking me, 'So, are you going to keep all your stage moves when you're before Pete?' And, you know, physically I can't."

Indeed it does. So what he's saying is that a young man can't physically pull off the moves that the 59 year old he's supporting still manages.

I'll give 'em credit though. From what I've read today they are all huge Who fans and can't wait to meet them backstage.

They sound like Who fans to me. You Am I have little grabs of WHo riffs scattered amongst their songs. I keep thinking "that's a Pete riff and Who type arrangement; now what song or improvisation is it from?"
And there's nothing wrong with a bit of copying. Jumping around is a hell of a lot of fun. Pull it off and people are impressed that you try to do it but sometimes you just can't help doing it. it is music to make you groove through the day. I bet Entwistle was just hanging out to have a jump. Probably drank too much red wine for safe flying.

maybe he should be more careful that if hes going to do a take off and pull it off blaming it on straining a muscle still makes it sound a bit of a throw off!
