A four disc DVD set of Live Aid is being released on, I think, 1 November in UK.
Does anyone know whether it will include the "missing" Who section from when the TV feed went down?

Apparently there's just 2 Who tracks on it, Love Reign Over Me and WGFA.

Thanks Islander. It was just a thought that someone with a camera might have had some film in it .

I thought it was the link that went down, not the actual recording equipment? How come the whole of the Who's set was never recorded?

Maybe they were recording from the satellite feed? Thinking on it now, that's a logical assumption. The show featured transmissions from both sides of the Atlantic. Recording from the satellite means they'd have both sides of the entire day's broadcast safely taped from one location in the UK.

It would explain why the performance was largely lost. I can't think of a better one, anyway.

I remember seeing the Who at Arizona Sun Devil Stadium a bit before the Live Aid prorgram was broadcast. They wer great as usual, but Roger was very straightforward at chastizing the people who were waving the UK flag...He said something to the effect that "why do you wave the thing when you bloody don't even know what it stands for?" Cool Roger. No Bulls**t and straight to the point. I love people like that. They don't lie and are forthright and honest!
Also, Kenny Jones was with them. I think he was a bit better then Starkey. A bit more seasoned. Sorry, just an opinion...

Why did Roger have a problem with people waving a Union Jack?

I'm a bit puzzled by that too.
Also, do you mean you saw them in '82? Wasn't that the last time they played before Live Aid?

my dads got a recording of live aid on video and tape. Whatever it was stopped the sound and cameras being recorded. I think everything just went completely. Probably was somethin to do with satellite. Anyway Pete wasnt too happy told the technician guy who told him what had happened to f*** rite off, then tried to kick the mic stand and tripped. I also thin thats why they played a longer version of WGFA cause they were p****d off!!
ps. petes haircut was a bit dodgy
