Ive never seen The Who live before, I got my tickets on internet pre sale. Although I know this line up is pretty good I still would have love to have seen the origional band live. I'm sure it'll be a blast anyway. I'm planning on not being wasted before the show, but going out after, its in the city so theres plenty of bars nearby that open very late. Its good theyre playing here on a Saturday night, because I doubt ill be home till the Sunday Morning!

Assuming they will arrive a few days and that they will not be completely jet-lagged from the long trip. I think you can expect a great show. I think they will be excited to play a part of the world where they haven't played for decades. Yes they have suffered loss, but they are still brilliant.

hmm Im not sure of capacity of Melb Venue, 150 maybe? HA! The Lounge of The Rob Roy Hotel which reeks of rising damp?? ;D Wonders how ticket sales are going. The venue they are playing carries the name of a telephone company which gets enough advertising without me mentioning it for free! but lets just say, they play tennis there in the summer

I have a nasty feeling that the stupid Poms still watching it is the only reason you lot still make it. It's a cruel world when Neighbours is still on our screens but we can't watch Roy and HG.

Hey Finky
I've bought another expensive ticket for the second Sydney concert and slotted in some overtime at work to pay for it. I couldn't resist it when it threw up a row seven in the middle as the best available.
I'm impressed with your family's Richmond connections. Think I may start a Richmond thread in the off topic area as it occurs to me that our beloved AFL team's suburb is named after Richmond in London, both being near the river and the London one is stomping ground for a certain balding guitarist. THough after the drubbing by Cartlon last week, we haven't got a lot to cheer about.
For the out of Sydney people, the Sydney Entertainment Centre holds about 12,000.

Thats why they still make xxxx and fosters! When Roy and HG did a radio show called "This Sporting Life" (hmm after that rugby movie) they used to have mock ads with jingels 'The Lithgow Bank' whos slogan was "comfy as buggery"

For those of you OS - Roy and HG do live commentary on Rugby League matches (NSW v Qld). It is the funniest thing I've ever heard. There's another game on ABC radio next Wednesday and will be on the internet..

did you used to listen to "The Festival of The Boot" each year? on 'jjj'( their commentry of AFL and NRL Finals?) and the 2 or so hr radio show on Saturday afternoons? I think they got a much higher profile after covering the Olympics with 'Fatso the Hairy Arsed Wombat'

I hope these are outdoor gigs in Japam & Austrailia? Roger is much better when he doesn't have to contend with smoke. You'll see a decent band however don't be mistaken- This is the Pete Townshend show! He is playing as good as he has played since Keith died. Roger to me, doesn't have much more in the tank. He is always struggling to hit the high notes. Hopefully with a few shows under his belt he'll get better. JD

As far as I know The Melbourne Gig is a closed roof venue. It does open but only in summer, and July is still quite chilly here being our winter and all. Would be handy if THE WHO were playing at The M.C.G then I wouldnt have to walk to two venues! I'm sure the Richmond Lads would've shared their club rooms with The Who. Most of the bigger venues here are smoke free anyway, even The MCG which most of is open air.

Yeah that's something that amazed me when i went to the Manchester Apollo years ago, the smoke and alcohol on the floor. Here smoking is banned almost everywhere enclosed and try to smuggle a beer into some of these Ent Cents in Oz !!! My ticket arrived today !!! ....how many more sleeps ?

Something weird about a band venue where your feet dont stick to the floor. There used to be a place here "The Old Greek Theatre" it had been a cinema that was turned into a band venue, bar up one end, stage the other. The floor was on such a sharp angle that if it got slippery you could lean one way at the bar and end up at the front of the stage with out actually lifting a foot. blokes doing tumble rolls from the bar to the stage through the crowd were fun to watch too. as they rolled through the audience theyd knock people over like bowling pins

MSG 2002 August, went with my mom and dad . my dad's seen them live 5-7 times he don't remember. saw them in college doing quadrophenia in the 1970s and remembers moon throwing a french horn or some instrument into the crowd and my dad had troouble hearing after show, he was in the front. aug 2002 good show, nice atmosphere. sat in some seats that were not ours that were pretty close cause ours were way up high. some hippies smoking weed nearby with some kids my age in their twenties or so. also one old hippy was sporting some hot chick who was my age too. i thought good for him. roger sang well, i bought the cd, pete talking about white teeth in america, dedicateing tkaa for a kidnapped girl chewing her way out of duct tape. mentioned cfnyc which was nice. dad liked zak and saw some mmoon in him. pete spitting something out during who are you was funny. mom liked roger's chest. i liked his swinging the mic, he swung it higher and faster than i thought he would at his age. show just proved what i always thought that age is just a number.

G'day, Three more sleeps. Glad I'm not working the 5am shift this week.
There seems to be a bit of bif aimed at You Am I for being the support act. I was rather pleased when I saw them as the support act, as though I have a couple of their CDs, I've never seen them live but have wanted to. I saw Tim Rogers do an acoustic solo show recently and thought he was excellent.
I think it's a great double bill. I'm raring to go to the two Sydney shows. Bring it on.
