Repost from WhoAreYou: >The Sept. 2nd edition of Rolling Stone on page 67 ("Random Notes") there's a photo of R. Daltrey standing with Aerosmith's Joe Perry and Steven Tyler. The caption reads: "Two titans met at Yokohama International Stadium when The Who, WHO'D NEVER PLAYED JAPAN, opened for Aerosmith. This was the Rock Oddyssey music festival at Yokohama and Osaka where a number of acts were booked into the two venues each day. The Who and Aerosmith both performed in their assigned slots, and the order was reversed in Osaka so that Aerosmith played before The Who. Nither opened for the other. For anyone who would like to write RS magazine to complain about the "opened" comment, here's their email address: letters@ rollingstone.com Here's the Rock Oddyssey website, if you need to do any research: www.udo.co.jp/odyssey/

Happens all the time. A pal of mine was invited by Angus from ACDC (yes Islander - ANGUS YOUNG himself) to a gig in Germany where ACDC were opening for the Stones. They'd been asked at the 23rd hour to open to help boost ticket sales as they'd sold less than 25% of the tickets.

That was just the order they played that day. The next day Aerosmith went on first. Neither band really "opened" for the other.

That was my point. I wrote to Rolling Stone and complained about the error.
