So do we think the tour will go ahead...!?
The timing is unfortunate - it looks like it could coincide with the peak of Uk/Ireland cases
And with their ages, they’re in the highest risk demographic

Yes, I am interested too. My husband and I were planning to travel from the US to Dublin to celebrate my 65th birthday on March 18 with The Who! But because of all the various issues here and there in Ireland and our “advanced” ages, it looks like we may be staying home instead.

Well, st Patrick’s celebrations have been cancelled so it would have been a more muted trip than you expected. Pearl jam are the latest to cancel/postpone
The Irish government are currently reviewing the option of cancelling any public event with crowd of over 1,000 The who would be 15,000
I’m suspecting that the band may cancel or postpone tour till later this year for the sake of their own health. Or else are waiting for such events to be stopped so that they’re not the ones making the cancel decision

Really depends how long this lasts as to what happens. They aren’t getting younger.
I’m convinced this will be the last leg of the last tour (I’ve prob been saying similar since 1996, but feel it more now!!)

"The hitmaker also admitted it would take a lot of people to get them ready for a streaming gig and that he's used to having a crew member tuning his instrument, which is out of the question with everyone in self-isolation during the coronavirus pandemic." Lazy bastard. Wasn't a problem when he used to appear on webcasts from an attic in his house....but the guy gets a little bit of success with an album and it goes right to his head....

Do we know how long WHO took to actually record in studio?

Do we know how long WHO took to actually record in studio? I remember reading somewhere like January to March 2019? I could be totally wrong.

Someone asked how long it took to make the album "Who". From what I saw, it took from Fall 2018 until Sept 2019. Over a year. Although the actual recording time was only 3-4 months, planning took a few months. I am sure Roger rejected some of the songs. Plus, after April 2019, they had to massage the performances and the mix. I am guessing they recorded a few extra songs because Polydor did not like the original album that was presented.

I’d thought it was much quicker than that. I know the one with Wilko was done in a week or two
We’ll need them locked away for quite a while to produce an album..!

Well, to be fair the release date got pushed, I remember it being ready for release for early summer of 2019. And we all know Pete's extensive demo-work covering the ground of many songs beoforehand and I imagine Pino's bass, Zak's drums and Roger's vocals were done pretty fast. "WHO" is an achievement I never expected even the best band in the world would achieve in the autumn of their lives. Maybe it was lightning in a bottle but it's hard to compete with Who's Next for anybody and I welcome every little melody these blokes can produce. I'm happy for all we can get, bring me more!

And we all know Pete's extensive demo-work covering the ground of many songs beoforehand and I imagine Pino's bass, Zak's drums and Roger's vocals were done pretty fast. If the wuite extensive recording period mentioned on Wikipedia is accurate (The Who's own press release mentions just "recorded mostly during spring and summer 2019"), I guess it was for two reasons: 1) Roger recording the vocals only after everything else was done 2) The amount of musicians used. Along with the "usual suspects": Joey Waronker: drums (5, 8, 11-12) Benmont Tench: organ, mellotron Gus Seyffert: bass (3, 9-10) Carla Azar: drums (3, 10) Matt Chamberlain: drums (6) Josh Tyrrell: handclaps (4) Rowan McIntosh: handclaps (4) Martin Batchelar: programming (6), orchestration (6, 8), orchestra arrangement (8), orchestra conducting (6, 8, 13) Rachel Fuller: orchestration (6) Peter Rotter: orchestra fixer (6, 8, 13) Bruce Dukov: orchestra leader (6, 8, 13) Andrew Synowiec: acoustic guitar (9) Gordon Giltrap: acoustic guitar (11) Fergus Gerrand: percussion (11) So in my opinion, Pete might write and record demos songs for the album, but I can't see any "real" studio work being done during this crisis. If nothing comes into fruition of it, I am completely happy with WHO being their last studio effort.

According to (Bill) Curbishley, the pandemic means The Who will have to take the long way back to the United States. All remaining 2020 performance dates are canceled; they won’t be playing in public again until spring 2021.
The plan is for us to play the UK in March 2021, then we would like to play the USA last week in April and through May 2021,“ he said. The Who cancels 2020 tour but promises to return to Cincinnati in 2021

Highly likely 2021 will be cancelled too I would think Unfortunately it might be the case. i thought it was quite bold to reschedule the UK tour with so many question marks around the pandemic still. Also there is the matter of insurance fees for a tour that I'd think will be very high from now on.

We’re still at a situation where only 0.5% of the population has contracted it It’s a long way to go. If a vaccine comes in 2 or 3 yrs that’d be very fast. But with their ages , they can only kick this tour down the road for so long. And there’s also the matter of their own personal health. After Rogers brush with meningitis, I’d guess he’ll play things safe.
There’s a political waiting game going on while bands wait for governments to cancel the gigs. If they cancel, they’re on the hook for it. It’s likely that’s happening here while they wait for insurance

Some updates from Daltrey: Singer Roger Daltrey tells ABC Audio that the band initially planned to move the concerts to September of this year, but he now reports that, depending on the course the coronavirus takes, the U.S. shows likely will happen immediately after the U.K. trek, in April 2021. -- Daltrey also reveals that he and band mate Pete Townshend are considering lining some intimate acoustic concerts like the series of club gigs The Who played this past February in the London area. -- Meanwhile, Roger reveals that although Townshend has been writing new songs, he isn't sure if The Who will make another album.abcnewsradioonline.com/music-news/2020/6/25/the-whos-roger-daltrey-says-bands-postponed-us-shows-likely.html

Lifted from an interview with Uncut: Elsewhere in the interview, Townshend provided an update on The Who’s upcoming album, saying that he’s written 25 songs, 15 of which he’s already shown to frontman Roger Daltrey.
“Right now, I’m in that space where I’ve got my studio set up, my acoustic and electric guitars, a drum box, all there ready to go,” he revealed. “There’s pages and pages of draft lyrics. So if the moment comes, I’ll go in and start.”guitar.com/news/music-news/pete-townshend-bob-dylan-bandcamp-new-young-artists/
