Full documentary on YouTube: It's probably worth also putting this video in the main forum. Let's all not forget, in a different time or a different place that could have been anyone here.

In memory of John 'The Ox" Entwistle. What a lovely, genuine, generous and talented man. We recorded this song 'Substitute' in the mid 90's at John's house and studio, with the wonderful Gary Grainger on guitars and Zak on drums. I can remember it like it was yesterday (Which is strange considering I can't remember much about the hazy 90's) John was so relaxed playing the bass, he did it in one take laying down on the sofa in the control room. I was then, and I still am ' In Awe' of 'The Ox' You are sorely missed. The song has been digitised from an old cassette tape that has been lost in a box for twenty years, so the quality is not the best, but the playing of Zak, Gary and John is undeniable.

Not The Who, but pretty awesome and impressive nonetheless Over a 100 drummers and they still can’t match the power of Keith Very good though ...

I really enjoyed that interview! He's honesty is appreciated but I was kinda take aback to hear him diss John's writing and craftmanship, admitting to not liking his songs. What is it with the surviving members of The Who always bashing the other two? Feels even more akward since they are dead and can't response. How about celebrating their legacy instead for a change?

Speaking of WhoTube... I created a website that imagines three additional albums to the Who's catalogue, including one full LP of Mod music from their days as the High Numbers (in reality, they only released one single under that name). Each one (two are double-LPs) links to Spotify playlists I created drawn from all of the non-album A-sides (like "Substitute" and "Happy Jack"), B-sides that never appeared on LPs, and unreleased tracks that appeared on compilations and "deluxe" releases. On top of that, I wrote an "alternate history" of the band -- my first real attempt at metafiction -- that fits in with the actual history, and designed some pretty neato sleeves (might be the thing I'm most proud of) for them. If you're a fan of the early Who, I think you'd particularly like Jigsaw Puzzle, though the High Numbers LP, called Baby Don't You Do It!, where I stuck "I Can't Explain" and "Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere," is actually the real revelation -- largely explosive covers of Black American music that shows off the band's early chemistry. 6 ft. Wide Garage - 7 ft. Wide Car captures all of the best tracks from just before, and just after Who's Next. Please share if you're so inclined -- I spent some time on this! BTW, this is all just fanfiction, no profit motivation here. Sorry about all the bold face -- it's become my thing recently. the-who-lost-albums.blogspot.comI'd love to hear what you think of these. Anything missing?
