namsetad, that's an Entwistle solo song. From Too Late The Hero, his 1981 album. His best solo album in my opinion. Ooooh..gotta disagree there. Smash Your Head Against The Wall, his first album, is almost like the great lost Who album!

I like it - Great bass sound. What's that extra verse/bridge? The poster says the show was aired on 12/31/68 - I wonder when it was actually recorded? Very interesting, both video and audio.

I read somewhere that this version was recorded for the Quick One album. It's funny but when I was younger, the only compilations available were Meaty Beaty big and bouncy or The story of The Who so I didn't actually hear the single version until Who's better Who's best was released.

Great footage--check out the look on Roger's face! This thirty second clip perfectly illustrates the self-consciousness Pete has said he was feeling during this run of shows. Or so it seems to me...

That extra bridge sounds more "Sell Out" to me, but that's interesting info. But then, what year is the video recorded from? A very "interesting" french horn solo.

This is a Dailymotion clip, better site IMHO, loadsa Who stuff, but this clip to me shows why Pete is the genius he is. He make a real rock classic (Real Me) sound just as good on solo acoustic. Listen to the way he adds percussion by hitting his strumming hand on the guitar body. Top man. www.dailymotion.com/video/x1ci2e_pete-townshend-the-real-me-drowned

I wonder why he doesn't play this, instead of "Drowned".

I wonder why he doesn't play this, instead of "Drowned". I think it's probably because drowned is a better known song and it's from quadrophenia, and Pete has said that he thinks drowned is one of his best songs.

Drowned isn't better song and the reason he plays is because it's the same same ol during "Who" concert, can't do anything else..

Modo didn't say that it was a better song, he said it was a better known song. And Pete can definitely "do something else", since he did play "I Can't Reach You"

My bad, my english failed but doesn't change the reason why it (or rest same stuff) is played. It's done because "it's the same same ol during "Who" concert, can't do anything else.." .. bunch of afraid little cats...

Then you might fit right in with them, jimana, with many of the same old and tired posts, except that they are actually DOING something and makig lots of people happy as well. However, I thank you, for posting the link to I Can't Reach You. Upbeat acoustic kinda rocking version which would sound great with the guys Pete is playing with now in front of thousands of pleased people throughout the world on European and American concert stages during the past year on he and Roger's most extensive tour in years and years and years.

Although, I believe they were playing the song at their concerts at the tme.

My Wife - Cleveland 1975The boys go absolutely crazy in a video and at a show that is completely new, to me at least. Watch out for Pete's screaming feedback solo! www.youtube.com/watch?v=F731ZIu-bJY New to me too. The real gem is seeing some Moon action from this period.
