ENTWISTLE HOME STILL UP FOR SALE The family of late Who bassist John Entwistle is still trying to sell the rocker's vast Cotswold mansion a year after it went on the market. Entwistle's mother Queenie, 80, son Chris, 31, and partner Lisa Pritchett-Johnson, 46, had hoped to sell Quarwood, at Stow-on-the-Wold, last Christmas to pay death duties. London auction house Sotheby's, which was marketing Quarwood for offers in excess of £4 million, has passed the sale to Hamptons International. Hamptons knocked £250,000 off the original asking price for the 55-room pile, Entwistle's home until his death in Las Vegas two years ago. Hamptons' country house director Stephen Perks said: "They are not 'desperate' to sell but they are keen to find a buyer." Paul Taylor, from Sotheby's, who was marketing the mansion, said: "Last year the country house market was quite quiet, and it's a difficult house to sell - it needs work and will only suit some people." In the 42-acre grounds are seven cottages, four of which are included in the sale of the main building, which boasts a big bar, jacuzzi and views of the scenic Cotswold countryside. Chris Entwistle said: "Quarwood was always Dad's place but now he is no longer here it's just not the same." www.thisisgloucestershire.co.uk/displayNode.jsp?nodeId=138514&command=displayContent&sourceNode=138497&contentPK=10556350

This must be causing the family some considerable heartache.
