;D Well, this would have been worth seeing.... www.whitehaven-news.co.uk/news/viewarticle.aspx?id=359540 skip to: page content | site navigation [AD-IMG]16:55 - 28 April 2006 CLASSIFIEDS | MOTORS | JOBS | PROPERTY | SUBSCRIBE | WHAT'S ON The Who wanted to play in Cumbria Published on 27/04/2006 ROCK legends The Who inquired about playing in Cumbria it has been revealed – and it would have been just one of seven gigs in England. But unfortunately Carlisle Sands Centre could not accommodate the band on the date they had requested in June. The Who are performing at festivals this year and are touring in the UK and Europe. Original band members Roger Daltrey, Keith Moon and Pete Townshend are in the line-up. Ian Congdon, Sands Centre entertainments manager, said it's the nature of the industry that sometimes confirmed bookings could not be cancelled in order to accommodate others. “We did all we could to accommodate their request but it just wasn't possible,” he said. **************************** Clearly, they don't get muc. music news up there.

yes fact checking doesn't seem to be high on much of the media's "to-do" list anymore.
Wow, that's bad - wonder if John Lennon, George Harrison, or heck Julius Caesar will be joining them?

yes fact checking doesn't seem to be high on much of the media's "to-do" list anymore. I partially attribute that situation to the Internet. Since the late '90's I've noticed such mistakes becoming more common across the board, and have quite often seen incorrect 'facts' appear in the written press which have been lifted verbatim from websites. Before the net the facts would have been checked with books or paper files, which gave a relative degree of controlled accuracy. It seems to be not uncommon today that instead of hard research a couple of minutes on Google is considered acceptable....

I remember the Daily Mirror's "today is their birthdays" section listing what would have been Keith's 47th birthday. More bad research!!!! I hear Bonham, Hendrix, Charlie Mingus, and possibly John Coltrane will be sitting with them.
