Here`s the dates around the time mentioned in PTs post.
JUNE 18 Brighton Centre, England 25 O2 Wireless Festival - Leeds, England
Can`t see how this confirms any Leed Uni gigs?
I think he means between Brighton and Leeds he wil have time to mix the album.

I think he means between Brighton and Leeds he wil have time to mix the album. 'and by Friday everything will be ready for me to mix in the first gap in the UK tour between Leeds and Brighton on the weekend of 17th/18th June and our return to play the Leeds O2 festival on 25th June.' He could be talking about two Leeds gigs, so the first one could be the one at the university. However it doesn't seem to be on the schedule op till now. Sharp reading, Brian.

I suppose it comes down to how you interpret the word "return." Does he mean return to Leeds after 8 days or 36 years?

www.nme.com/news/who/23173The Who to return to legendary venue The band will be kicking off their UK tourThe Who are to return to the venue which spawned their classic 'Live At Leeds' album. The band will be kicking off their UK tour at Leeds University on June 17, thirty six years after they played the legendary set which was released on the 1970 LP. Though intended to be a secret show, the group's UK tour dates have been posted on guitarist Pete Townshend's official website. After returning from America, playing Woodstock and amongst critical acclaim for their rock-musical 'Tommy', The Who turned-up to play a gig at Leeds University in 1970, which was captured on tape and went on to become a multi-million selling record. Speaking recently about the seminal show, singer Roger Daltrey said: "The students there were a great audience for us it was packed to the rafters, and then some more. I heard there was a thousand fans on the roof!" The Who will follow their show in the city on June 17 with a string of European dates, which are as follows: Leeds University (June 17) Brighton Centre (18) Leeds O2 Wireless Festival (25) Bristol Ashton Gate Football Stadium (28) Belgium Werchter Festival (30) London Hyde Park Calling Festival (July 2) Hampshire Beaulieu Motor Museum (3) Liverpool Docks (5-6) Ireland Oxegen Festival (8) Scotland T In The Park Festival (9) Bonn Museumplatz (11) Berlin Wuhleide (12) Locarno Moon & Stars (14) Monte Carlo Sporting Club (15) Antique Vienne Theatre (17) Metz Amneville Arena (18) Paleo Festival, Nyon (20) St Polten Lovely Days Festival (22) Ulm Munsterplatz (23) Barcelona Palau St Jordi (26) Madrid Sports Palace (27) Zaragoza Pabellon Principe Felipe (29) © IPC MEDIA 1996-2006, All rights reserved | Site User

Does anyone know wether this is still actually the same venue they played? Or has been knocked down, refurbished, Different hall same name, etc?

It's the same venue with the same name, though it's not actually a venue as such, it's just a large school hall which doubles up for the purpose. I think it's used during the day as a lunchroom.
I last saw a band there in the early 90's and it looked the same then as it does in photos of The Who's performance.

Yeh its definitely still there as my friend went for a tour of the uni last year when we were picking our university places. The guide took them to the hall and said that it was the legendary place where The Who played...no one knew who The Who were except my friend (thanks to my love of them) and when she told me i was so jealous.....i have NO idea why the thought never entered my mind to go myself, I've been kicking myself ever since......

I know what you're talking about.
Pete's guitar sound is cr*p, the setlist is cr*p, Roger's voice is cr*p, the bass is cr*p and so on and so on. And that's what the review will be like. Right?

Hello- i'm new to the forum but not a new fan. i've loved The Who since i found my dad's tape of Tommy when i was about 6. I've never been able to see them live because festival dates have always seemed to coincide with exams, but this Leeds Uni gig would be an absolutely incredible first Who gig. I'm a student at the uni and so far they're completely in the dark about ticket sales too- i'm going home on tuesday and i'm terrified i'm going to miss out! so if anyone knows anything about how to get tickets any information would be much appreciated, and i'll keep asking at the ticket shop too, while i'm still here.

i go to the art college next to the uni in Leeds... they don't have a clue what's going on.. but as soon as they know they'll announce it and then there'll be a case of getting in to Leeds at 6:30, when the trains start, and it'll be a first come first served thing... im not going to sleep! one thing to be sure is that it looks like the ONLY place to buy tickets is the Uni so.. the best thing to do is keep an eye out on the site: www.leedstickets.com/homeremember, this gig is gonna cause a HUMONGOUS security issue... the refectory isn't exactly in the most spaceous areas (and a thousand on the roof last time?)... a lot of organisation will need to take place, including how this thing will be announced officially and where/when the tickets will be available.

Do you mean you have to go to the Uni in person? It's only a short train ride away so not too much of a problem, but it's getting time off work. If you get tickets, get me two I'll see you right!

lol..im getting everyone tickets! dont even know how much they'll be yet.. i have £100 to get mine and my sisters... so sorry lol. But i think you'll be able to get them on the website anyway.. which will be better if you can trust they'll get to you in time. 15 days to go woooop! The worst thing that could happen is that it's just cancelled...

I expect they will limit the number you can buy to 2 per person. If it does go to persoanl applicants only expect to see loads of young kids with enough cash for two tickets each who will then get them back to their tout employess before rejoining the queue and trying again

Here's word from TheShout:
>There should be news coming out of leeds Uni about ticket sales next Tuesday.
>Guy I spoke to explained that promotions will transfer the details to the sales then, but couldnt confirm when tickets would go on sale to the public.

Hi All, Just got this forum address from Alt.Music.Who Very impressed with the site! I would be willing to donate my private parts to medical science for a couple of Leeds Uni tickets im in Bournemouth so its to far to go to queue for them but hopefully they will be on leedstickets next week. Im going to all the UK gigs with the wife (shes going to be deaf lol) Ive got Travel Lodges at every town/city apart from Beaulieu as its only 25 miles away from me. Most of the tickets have arrived apart from all the gigs I bought tickets via www.seetickets.com as this outfit seems to release the tickets very late. Anyway im going to ring Leeds Uni again on Monday and hopefully they will know something. Thanks Alex 1) Driving to the Brighton gig 18/6/06 2) Driving to the Leeds gig 25/6/06 3) Driving to the Bristol gig 28/6/06 4) Catching train to Hyde Park gig 2/7/06 5) Getting lift to Beaulieu gig 3/7/07 6) Catching plane to Liverpool for weds show 5/7/06 7) Staying in Liverpool for Thurs show 6/7/06 8) Flying to Ireland from Liverpool 8/7/06 9) Flying from Ireland to Scotland 9/7/06 10) Flying home on the 10/7/06
