There seems to be a lot of hopeful fan talk at the moment concerning the addition of 'By Numbers' material to the new tour setlist. I personally find it strange that people seem to be focusing on this particular album when the band have other albums which are arguably more deserving of a live airing, and contain material more suited to the live Who experience. We've had Tommy, we've had Quadrophenia, and we've had Who's Next. So should 'By Numbers' really be the next album the band delve into when refreshing this year's setlist...or should that honour go to a different title? You decide! PS: Apologies Jimana for deleting your post. I noticed after setting up the poll that I'd stupidly managed to leave out 'By Numbers'. Polls can't be modified once they've been started, they have to be deleted and restarted afresh, so I had to kill the thread to fix the poll, sorry!

Well, I voted for By Numbers anyway. As much as I like the first three albums, it'd seem funny to me when this Who would play those songs, which I think belong to a group of talented adolescents. Not the old geezer group they are today. Secondly, I don't know if they could make 'I can't reach you' sound heavy enough. With By Numbers songs like Slip Kid and How Many Friends I won't worry about that.

I would LOVE to think we are going to get treated with a "new"setlist containing songs from those albums, but my bet is all we'll get is the same greatest hits type set with whatever new songs they play.

Like I said... f**kk concentrating on one album.. Could play one/two never done tune from each album in different shows etc. Of course, there won't be variation. Would require practice/effort. It will be "same setlist/repeat without variation each show' tour....

I voted for By Numbers because I think it has the most unplayed or rarely played songs with potential to be great live numbers. Sell Out is a close second, lots of great unplayed stuff on there. But to me it's more of a "pop" record. A good pop record, but still. Something like I Can't Reach You wouldn't sound as appropriate roaring through an arena as Slip Kid. There's a few on My Generation that would be good (I think the current band could do a great rendition of Circles) but I think more than any other album, the By Numbers stuff is due for a live airing.

By the way, what's up with no one voting for Ogden's Nut Gone Flake? Not in By Numbers' league surely but a great album on its own terms!

I wonder if Daltrey is still capable of singing the high harmonies of the first two or three albums anyway. I remember his saying he was struggling with Pictures of Lily on the 1989 tour!

I remember his saying he was struggling with Pictures of Lily on the 1989 tour! No, true - poor choice of phraseology there. Nevertheless, the point I was making was that the early songs tended to consist of delicate high-note songs. Which he said 17 years ago he was begnning to struggle to reach.

Hopefully a quick one while hes away is played in its live form, absolute class that is! Indeed. I heard them play a section of it during a fairly freeform encore at Wembley in 2000. What a pleasant surprise that was!

'Relax'. There's a fantastic extended jam version on the Fillmore bootleg. They've also done 'Mary Anne' in recent years...not quite so impressive!

It's cool that the Who once produced such a psychedelic sound, but the lyrics suck, honestly. Still, I wouldn't mind if they played it.

I'd like to hear Young Man Blues or Summertime Blues, or maybe the mini-opera. But I don't think that would come off as well without John to do the engine driver

I believe a set revision is in order..may be different opening number(s)..rather than cant explain & substitute... Run run run ?, Young man blues ? (ironic ?!), Slip kid, the Seeker, Cry if you want, Going mobile. I would say Trick of the light but Johns 8 string bass? :-( Any way I will have to wait till June 25th
