According to Rachel Fuller on her latest webcast, the next Who World Tour will start sometime around July of next year.
She was talking to the Sultan Of Brunei's son and stated that she going on the road with The Who in 2006 and would be playing some small venues near the Who's venues, so it seems pretty definite.

Well, at least that one's in the bag. Now here's hoping for a lot of dates in a lot of countries and an interesting set list, so 2006 will turn out to be the great Who year is promises to be.

I've been out of the loop for a bit, but this news of a 2006 tour is quite exciting. I mean it has to be happening if it gets its own home here at the chat forum! I am sure they will play NY, and I better be able to get tickets that won't put a dent in my kids future college education!

Apparently there was an article in RS: www.rollingstone.com/news/story/_/id/9029646?rnd=1135279999009&has-player=true&version=6.0.12.872 The Who to Tour in 2006 Townshend and Daltrey will team for summer trek The Who will launch a world tour this summer that will bring the band to North America for its first extended trek in nearly four years. "We plan to visit the USA, Europe, Japan, Australia and also South America," manager Bill Curbishley says. The group -- which now consists of Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend backed by bassist Pino Palladino, keyboardist John "Rabbit" Bundrick, drummer Zak Starkey and guitarist (and Pete's brother) Simon Townshend -- was forced to take a hiatus in 2005 due to Starkey's touring commitments with Oasis and Palladino's stint with the John Mayer Trio. "I don't want to stop, and I don't think Pete does," frontman Roger Daltrey told Rolling Stone in the fall. The Who have been working on a new album, Who2, on and off for the past decade and are scheduled to go back into the studio in February. There's no word on whether the summer tour will feature new songs, but in March guitarist Pete Townshend posted in his online diary, "I feel I can't tour any more with the Who without a new record." Townshend's girlfriend, singer-songwriter Rachel Fuller, may open some dates on the tour.

Hello Bonie! Back in time for Xmas?! Keep yer hands off our mince pies! Regarding the tour, I think this time the situation is completely different. They're not pushing 40 years old with plenty of time to tour if they change their minds in 5, 10, 15 or even 20 years. I'd guess they're pretty much aware that at this late stage in their career they either have to do it now or the likelyhood of them ever doing it again will seriously depreciate with each passing year. How old are they now, 60-odd? There certainly ain't gonna be a touring Who in 10 years time, and it's highly doubtful there will in just 5. They're now down to just two original members, and Daltrey knows his voice ain't what it used to be and probably won't be tour-worthy for much longer. There was a recent interview where he addressed that fact, which is why he wanted to get touring a.s.a.p. I think it's safe to say that a 2006 tour is in the bag, all we're really waiting for is dates and venues, but what happens after this tour is anyone's guess. This could well be the final tour, which is quite probably why Bill Curbishley announced such an extensive selection of countries to be played.

They'll be primarily playing outdoor venues. This helps with the smoke for Roger and the sound levels for Pete. With that in mind, I'll bet will see some warm-up shows in UK, Royal Albert Hall and then roll out in USA followed by Europe. JD
