I'd be a bit wary of those newspaper ads. There's another thread somewhere in this section about someone selling tickets for a bunch of 'unconfirmed' UK gigs in the back of a newspaper. With so many touts and unsavoury characters infesting the ticketing business, hearsay probably isn't the best evidence to accept when parting with cash before a tour has been announced by a band. Your best bet is to wait until there's an official announcement, whereupon there'll no doubt also be a big sticky post here spewing forth all the details.

i agree ibrox by far a better venue, the acoustics in secc are as tinny as a 100 year old radio! ive seen many aband there and the who and u2 were the only ones to get a kinda descent sound. at the who gig roger and pete looked on bemused by the reaction of the glasgow crowd who from the first cords of cant explain, went mad bouncing and singing for next half hour! can i also just say something that stood out for me at that gig was the way roger handled a bottle thrown by some idiot in the crowd which just missed rogers head, mid song he shouted to the eejit " if your gonny throw something make sure it has some alcahol init next time" then contnued the song . this same scenaric happend a few years earlier ta oasis gig at the same venue and "mad for it" liam gallagher stormed off stage and didnt return, leaving fans after only 25 mins of a gig. the who are class act that oasis would do well to study!

Being a major Who fan for many years .....and attended both SECC gigs ( as well as all Glasgow gigs since 71) i think that realistically they would not sell 50,000 tickets for Ibrox.
Although they did do 2 SECC gigs at around18,000 over 2 nights I think the jump to a stadium would be too much.

did either of u attend the gig at renfrew ferry for who's who?? that was packed and the place was bouncin, bouncin that much that the bass player looked rather worried! If f**king Bon Jovi and Robbie Williams can sell tickets at Ibrox the Who could no bother, n plus it would be about 30,000 not 50,000 unless u wanted to look at the big curtain behind the stage

Saw Who`s Who 2 years ago......they were good.
It`s nice you are optimistic re. Ibrox but it would be closer to 50,000 than 30,000.
What you don`t realise is that Robbie is very hot just now and Bon Jovi can pick up sales from folk who are not diehard fans.(At Hampden not Ibrox)
At this stage The Who tend to appeal to a core group of fans.....while this core is large I don`t think there is now the crossover to attract non-fans that major stadium acts have to do.

this is weird but theres a who tribute tonight at the strath uni lol! Funnily enough the Who are massive amongst teens (girls as well) and students, because i think just about everyone in ma class is goin 2nite so in a way there are a lot of younger people who just want to see the proper who live for the first time because its been hard for my generation to see them. apart from that i spose it wud be mainly hardcore fans.
It's not so much Ibrox, it was more to do with the Who playin a better venue, it was just first that came to mind. even the ABC wud be betetr than SECC - Ocean Colour scene played there last week

i did go to the whos who gig at the renfrew ferry and thought they were top class. 4th time ive seen them in glasgow and this was by far thier best outing so far. the second half of the set got the crowd on thier feet and built to a frantic climax. i agree the band never mund the bassist were all slightly taken unawares by the energy the crowd gave back, i though the feking ferry was about to sink by the amount of bouncing!!
