I could kick back a few beers with Sheryl Crow. What's that Pete said about her at the 1999 charity gigs. Her name was all over the stage since she plays so many instruments and Pete said Sheryl sure gets around. JD

NONE OF THE ABOVE. The WHO do not need an opening act, and even if there is one, I don't know how much of it the fans could take.
I remember in 2000 at MSG(NYC) and the Wallflowers were opening in replacement of the cancelled Jimmy Page/Black Crowes(which would have been killer!!!). But the Wallflowers I thought were horrible-no one even cared about them. I think they got their biggest applause as they were going off the stage-just glad to have it over with.

What an 'orrible three choices you've given us! I don't see any of them as being suitable, but I did force myself to vote for one. Realistically though I'm with Lord Chaos, The Who really don't need a support band. If I'm paying to see The Who, I'm paying to see The Who. If forced to see a support band, I'd rather they were someone more relevant to the heritage of The Who.

erm...... do we have to choose one of them? The support on the last English shows was cr*p. Ok they were doing their best for upcoming English acts, but...they were cr*p. Personally i think all headlining acts should have support, no one is forced to watch it and its not as if the show would go on longer if there wasnt one

Once you take your seat in most venues there's no opportunity to get up and wander around for an hour whilst a band you dislike, and would never pay to otherwise see, are playing.

JD A great friend of the 'orribl 'oo she must be. I should check the liner notes of ROCKS IN THE HEAD & CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THE MOVIE. (2 of my lovebugs's solo projects) Maybe Sheryl sung backup on them as an unknown.

Although overall i would still rather have the experience of watching live music than not. Iv become fans of loads of bands after seeing them support someone and having never heard of them before. and vice-versa, having thought a band was ok and then seeing them live can oftern dissapoint! Lets just hope the Who will choose someone decent, im sure bands will be jumping at the chance

I don't care if the freakin' Wiggles (a popular group with the 5 and under crowd!) open for The Who!!!! I just want to see Pete and Roger.
But if I did have a say in it I would like to see a younger group that Pete and Roger believe have some musical quality.
JK
PS BTW I was at the NYC show that the Wallflowers replaced the Black Crowes and Jimmy Paige....Disappointment is an understatement.

It was interesting, but I thought their repertoire was more club than arena oriented. Too laid back for the venue.

I was also at 2002 when Robert Plant opened-that was great-but it was a once in a lifetime thing. I dont think Robert was too happy with it-it must have been a blow to his ego to be an "opening act". It only happened because they share the same manager and at the time Robert was promoting his "Dreamland" cd.
I agree with an above post- if we have to see an opener-I would like it to have some relevance or at least fit in with the genre of music . Most of these young bands that people are crazy about now really sound very untalented to me, and only seem to have very basic ability with the instruments.

It went over fine, and I certainly don't think it was anything to be embarrassed about. The Who and Zep share an audience to an extent, and Plant got the benefits. I couldn't catch his tour that time around, but I got tix the next time he went out. I think he played a pretty long set.
