Here`s an article from the Glasgow Evening Times..... It`s spread over a few pages so I`ve posted a direct link www.eveningtimes.co.uk/hi/news/5048904.html The Who top bill as stars line up for T in the Park PETE TOWNSHEND will be back at T in the Park this summer with The Who ROCK veterans The Who were today confirmed as the headliners for this year's T In The Park festival. After months of speculation, organisers announced the legends would close the event on Sunday, July 9. And American stadium giants Red Hot Chili Peppers will headline the Main Stage at Balado on the Saturday. The Who had been tipped to play this year after guitarist Pete Townshend turned up at the event unexpectedly in 2005 and then played a set with Rachel Fuller after her guitarist fell ill. Other acts on this year's bill - which will spark a ticket-buying frenzy - include chart-topping newcomers Arctic Monkeys and The Ordinary Boys, featuring Celebrity Big Brother favourite Preston. The Arctic Monkeys' debut album - Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not - sold 360,000 copies in its first week to become the fastest-selling debut album in British history. Now in its 13th year, the festival will also feature the Kaiser Chiefs, whose appearance last year produced a festival anthem in the form of hit single I Predict A Riot, and atmospheric Icelandic innovators Sigur Ros. Scottish rockers Primal Scream will headline King Tut's tent on the Sunday - their third T In The Park appearance. The bill was unveiled at King Tut's by Geoff Ellis, managing director of T In The Park promoters DF Concerts. Glasgow-based DJ icons Slam will be celebrating their 10th year at the festival hosting the Slam Tent, and the first dance act to be confirmed today was Felix Da Housecat. Mr Ellis said: "The line-up is probably the strongest we have ever had at launch time. "There was great anticipation last year when Pete Townshend arrived to play guitar in the early morning slot, so I' m extremely pleased he's coming back this year with the rest of The Who. "It's something I always hoped for but never thought would happen in my career." Tickets go on sale on Friday at 9am, costing £56.50 for day tickets, £97.50 for weekend tickets and £115.00 for weekend with camping. They will be available from Ticketmaster on 0870 169 0100 or www.tinthepark.com. A pre-sale of 20,000 tickets on the day after last year's festival sold out almost instantly. Mr Ellis added: "With more than one third of tickets already sold, we're expecting a very quick sell-out this year. It could be hours rather than days." I don`t mean to sound bitter....
but will......
I`m really p****d off at not getting a ticket only to discover hundreds for the event on ebay going for vastly inflated amounts.
As much as I love The Who I can`t justify paying some tout £450 for a ticket.
I`ll need to try for Liverpool.... but with only 8 or 9000 tickets available it`ll be difficult.

I would be the bitterest bastard possible, you got a local gig and dont get a look in , thats the pits. At least when they played here on the IOW a few years ago we got "earlybird" tickets(and at a good discount) I hope you get one GW
Theres a crew of us going to the Vienna one, should do the whole trip for half of that price

Thanks for your sympathy WM................
I`ve been chacking ebay and might be able to get a Sunday ticket for a reasonable price.....
Can`t tell until this initial rush settles down.

i agree with whiskyman, im on the biggest downer and man am i feking feked off, 1600 tickets were sold in glasgows ticket scotland!! i mean come on to fek man out of 140,000 tickets available scotlands biggest city, population of around 800,000 people get a big kick in the balls from the organisers. least people should forget if it wasnt for the loyalty of music fans in glasgow in the foemative years of t- in the park there would be no show this year. its a feking sad day when i stand outside in freezing conditions for over 6 feking hours and get sweet f.a. and some ponce feking 4,000 miles away pushes 2 buttons on a computer and gets tickets no problem. drives me feking crazy to think that heres the who my alltime idols playing in an outdoor festival in my own back yard and i cant get a ticket because the way these c**ts sell the tickets. if i had my way only 1600 tickets would be available either through the phone or online, the rest go on public sale. im writing this and i can feel the blood boil in my viens at the thought of some feking part time music freaks seeing my band in place of me. feking feking fek fek fek fek feking feking fek. hope everybody can sense my anger

Earlier on this week one of the promoters said on TV not to buy tickets on ebay and the like as there would be more tickets released nearer to the event.
I guess we have to keep our eyes and ears open to a unannounced announcement!!!!!!

I guess we have to keep our eyes and ears open to a unannounced announcement!!!!!! Promoters usually release more tickets later - keep your eyes peeled. If you end up buying via eBay leave it until nearer the date. It happens all the time - a gig quickly sells out leaving many disgruntled fans who sometimes panic into spending silly money. Prices usually come down when it becomes apparent that there are quite a few tickets up for grabs.

I think i`ll bide my time...................it sticks in my throat to pay way over the odds for this gig.
What surprises me is that the crowd is limited to around 60,000 (or there abouts) each day.
Clearly the venue is too small to cope with the vastly increased demand this year.....especially when Glastonbury isn`t on this year.
Highlights and parts of live sets from T In the Park are usually broadcast so that`s something.

I did this last year and ended up seeing Rod Stewart for£6. It was a great show! Funny you should say that. I was in London in December and decided to see what prices the touts were charging outside Earls Court for the (sold out) Rod Stewart gig. I got there and could find no touts - presumably there was a police op on. Then I saw a guy holding up a couple of tickets. I agreed a price of £25 for a £45 ticket, but before I handed over the money a copper came over and nicked the tout. I couldn't believe it when she (the police officer) handed me the ticket and told me to enjoy the concert! So I saw him for sweet fanny adams, and yes, it was good!
