And so for round eight of our ongoing Who poll, Who's Next.
I'm going to take a crazy guess and say that Won't Get Fooled Again and Baba O'Riley are going to score highly for this one.....
As always, the rules;
You are allowed 2 votes per album.
You may change or retract your votes at any time until the poll locks.
Each poll will be active for 7 days, after which it will automatically lock and the next poll will commence.
The Small Print
The poll contenders will be taken from the tracklists of the current CD releases of the band's studio output.
Polls for "Deluxe" editions will be split into two parts, the first for the original album and the second for the bonus tracks.
For the sake of simplicity there will be no differentiation between mono and stereo mixes unless the track is an alternate take.
Deadlocked tracks will each be taken as a valid result under their individual position within the poll.
Once we have worked our way through the entire Who studio album catalogue there will be a poll taken from the remaining non-album singles, B-sides and oddities etc.
The top 3 selections from each poll will then be placed into a poll of their own. From that selection a final vote will be cast to decide the 10 favourites, the top ten Who tracks.

This is point where things are no longer on a fair field Too many goodies here but despite overplay and overfamiliarity, the opener and closer are the best two by a long shot

Album wise I'm tempted to go Bargain and Going Mobile. WGFA is my favourite but the live versions were always so much better. My Wife was a bit of a novelty number (like Boris) but kicked ass live. It's amazing the jam they could go into with just a two chord progression.

I'm a bit surprised by the lack of love for Behind Blue Eyes. Ok, I realise it's been perhaps overplayed over the years and Limp Buiscit mutilated this song some years back but it's still such a beautiful piece and really unique in The Who's catalogue.

I've always found Behind Blue Eyes a bit too maudlin. For me the vibe of the song fits the cold and bleak location imagery of the album cover perfectly.
Then again I've always felt Who's Next is one of those albums where the ambience of the cover relects the musical content fairly well. There's not much colour, happiness and light to be found across the bulk of the tracklist is there?
