Seen that but (a) they seem to want to get people to preregister interest - is this because they can then choose where it will be shown? and {b)will it be edited without the banter between songs because I'll not be going if they do!

I guess there's not that many fellow Finns on the boards, but Live in Hyde Park will be shown in cinemas in Finland as well. I'm pleasantly surprised.

There must now be enough filmed Hyde Park performances of the band to fill a "Who In The Park" DVD box set. With the demographic of people who attended those gigs across the years that's got to be a bigger seller than any single gig from the batch.

Roger just cannot sing the two opening lines anymore. Voice just changes with age like a lot of things It's a kind of "taboo subject" among certain fans, but to me it's a fact : Roger can't properly sing the Who standards anymore. Some nights he really massacred "Baba O'Riley", "Won't Get Fooled Again" and some others... and that's normal he's 71 ! It's sometime strange how some fans are in denial about his actual vocal capacity. His voice is ageeing just like all the others artists and these songs required a strong vocal capacity.

Yea he's not 30 any more so he's gonna sound different. It's a pity that baba is the big one he struggles with as it's become the big one in recent years But other songs he can do And the wilko album sounded great with him I'm not one of those people who thinks he should pack it in - he just needs to choose the material carefully. ICSFM sounded good as did join together But the usual dilemma of hits vs obscurities etc Same thing has happened to Pete - he's resorted to shouting and rarely sings Both are picked up sneakily by Simons backing vocals

Given that Roger is quite blatantly miming the scream at the end of WGFA (have a look at the Glastonbury version if you don't believe me) and the screamed 'Love' in LROM, I dunno why he doesn't just mime the start of Baba. He;s been doing this since the Quad tour in 2013. Maybe under docs orders not to scream. Who knows. It doesn't really bother me. Partially live Rog is better than no Rog at all.

Judging from this clip, thankfully Hyde Park seems to be better directed than the Quadrophenia tour-DVD. For me it ate away the live feel that practically only Roger and Pete got screen time, no matter what was going on.

Saw the film this evening, so spoiler alert for those who haven't: * very enjoyable show: reminded me of the one in Dublin that the start was rather slow but after 3-4 songs they really shifted gears and intensity kept on growing right until (the slighty screwed up ) ending of WGFA. Roger and Pete are clearly enjoying themselves on the stage. * In general I enjoyed the style of directing over the DVD of Quadrophenia, much more of live-feel. Although there were few short slow motion-tricks that I could've done without. Also some in-betweens of songs are filled with interview clips of Rog, Pete, Paul Weller, Johnny Marr, Iggy Pop etc. I don't know how much interaction and talking with audience there was at Hyde Park, but not that much made it to the film. In the words of Pete:"It was most enjoyable" Ps. Iggy Pop covering My Generation acoustically over the beginning of closing credits was a nice surprise.

what was the setlist? Or should I say, what was left out of the 20 song setlist they played?

Ugh! Me too. WHY do they do that? Isn't a concert fi;m supposed to simulate a concert experience? I've never seen anyone running up to the stage to interview any band members. Why burden DVD viewers with such annoying interruptions?

Yep Roger can't sing but folk still hand over their hard cash to hear him growl like a pub drunk on the karaoke machine.
if I can't do my job I don't get paid!

Dylan can't sing, remember his songs, or engage with the audience , yet still draws a crowd. There's an easy solution for people who don't like it.
