Roger gets hit by a bottleGreat banter by Pete afterwards The Who Gone WildGreat stuff here, including footage of Pete during the 1989 tour with his hair down. ;D Looks uhm... weird. Also footage of the moment when the whammy bar goes through Pete's hand.

It's the first time i've seen the pro shot 1982 Orlando video of Tattoo and Cry If You Want. Wow and the audio is perfect too. jD

Funny when Roger hits a fan in front with a swinging mike. I do believe that's from the show I went to in 2004. It was quite a moment. Also, Ponytail Pete without the Ponytail = me screaming.

Best.YouTube.vid.ever. I always wondered how a four piece Who with Philips on drums would sound like (well the others are there, but you can hardly hear them, and I can't imagine Jody Linscott adding anything substantial to this) and this is as close as we're going to get I guess. f**king amazing, especially John really shows he loves this song.

Just watched "Cry If You Want" Orlando '82 and that solves a mystery for me. With Pete's "herpes masterclass" banter, we now know that the version on the "It's Hard" remaster is from this show and not either Toronto show. I didn't think I had ever heard Pete say that while watching either Toronto '82 video (first or second night).

Hammersmith, I'm pretty sure I read that they took a version of Cry If You Want from one show and spliced in the "herpes masterclass" from Orlando.
Jeroen, that's so true. I'm amazed at how good that is, considering the year. It has what all the '89 stuff I've been hearing lacks: danger, ridiculousness, Entwistle harmonies, and no Bulls**t instrumentation.q

Pete's really enjoying playing this song. Watch his face during the HORRIBLE solo by Frankenstein... What the hell was he playing? Otherwise, it blows your socks off... If there's more material of this rehearsal out there, they should seriously consider releasing this as bonus-stuff on DVD! Edit: oh, and there ís more! "Naked Eye" from the same rehearsal.

namsetad, that's an Entwistle solo song. From Too Late The Hero, his 1981 album. His best solo album in my opinion.

When I see these rehersals it annoys me even more that Pete chose to play mostly acoustic on this tour as he was obviously very able to still play electric without it doing damage to his ears.

Yeah this is great apart from the backing singers ooh oohs after every line. It's funny, ten years earlier (79) they sounded like this and again ten years later (99). It seems like in the eighties everything had to be over produced and perfect. Maybe that's why most eighties stuff sounds so dated now?

Wow, great to see such a rarity but what a terrible performance--if not for Daltrey that would be a complete train wreck. No wonder they rarely played it live. A lot of these YouTube clips of 82 shows have really improved my opinion of that tour, but this one lives up to all of the bad hype! I am grateful for the link, though--thanks, Tom!

Roger's good as a man can be on that song, and John and Kenney sound pretty good, but Pete is sleeping.

I didn't see the Who in 82, but I was paying attention at the time. Many opinions I have read say that the Toronto gig was not an accurate representation of that tour (and therefore don't compare the whole 82 tour on that one show alone; fair enough). As more stuff from 82 surfaces to be seen and heard, the more I feel that maybe Toronto was not really that far off from representing what they were doing in 82.
In other words, I am not that impressed with the various [non-Toronto] clips from 82. They just didn't seem to have that edge or spark. Maybe you had to be there (usually the case). Mainly I can't stand that dancing around they're doing; ugh!
