For Jake Gyllenhaal ( who's hot from my point of vue ^^ ) I may looks like Pete, but he is way too"big" (I don't know what word I can use in english XD ) Well Pete was skinny, and Jake Gyllenhaal isn't very skinny ^^

The last thing the world needs is a goofy Austin Powers film about rock stars smashing up hotels. KEITH MOON was a very talented musician. TELL ME HOW THIS FILM CAN CAPTURE THAT?? MAKES ME SICK.

I agree with aceface905, Jake Gyllenhaal has a strong resemblance with Pete. As for John and Roger, I still can't seem to find anybody. I had this crazy idea about a week ago that they should get Clive Owen to play John, but after reviewing several photographs of the actor (which wasn't exactly a difficult task ) it probably wouldn't be a good idea in the end.

Considering we hardly know anything about the movie yet, I wouldn't jump to such conclusions about what it's going to be like.

Well it will have nothing to do with playing the drums. Maybe Mickey Mouse should be in it.

Again, I think you're assuming too much, seeing as we don't really know anything about the movie yet. Unless you've read stuff somewhere else about the movie that hasn't been posted here. I have my doubts about Mike Myers too, but I'm at least willing to wait and see what we end up with before passing judgement.

What are YOU as Who fans hoping this film will do to enhance the reputation of a great musical genius?? Did the Ken Russell Tommy pantomime convey the essence of the original album? No it was a gross camp celeb fantasia of camp bollocks. Did Quadrophenia not resort to mods n rockers on the beach drivel without the pathos and struggle of Jimmys inner turmoil which all of us go through at that age? Cinema is never as good reflecting real life. So why cheapen the life of a good musician with a film that will have little to do with his talent and only focus on Moon the loon. ? Scrap it now!!

Me thinks you are confusing what were in essense two great works of fiction that were poorly interpreted, and a biog of a character whose life (if you believe it all) was bigger than fiction. I'll be surprised if it does happen (at least in the format being portrayed) however because I think that there is a perceived interest bigger than there actually is in regards to Keith.

Good point. I've certainly been dubious of the commercial potential of a film like this. Obviously we'll all go and see it, but I have a hard time seeing this cross over with the general public. No doubt that's one of the reasons they're going with a big name like Mike Myers.

Mike Myers=comic actor. Pete Townshend has always been flattered by movie makers but too often hes let his best work down by letting the wrong people butcher his babies. I would love to hear his comments regarding this comedy of errors, I doubt it is positive. Roger aint no Orson Welles either.

Who cares its not a music film its a f**king cartoon. Hey...that might actually be interesting... Of course, it would be a country mile from a Disney movie if you ever see one. Could be something a long the lines of an anime thing...something really artistic. *grabs sketch books and runs off*

Wait its a cartoon a thought it was like a real movie? No. It's not going to be a cartoon. I just got thinking and typed faster than I could think. (If that makes sense...)

i like that "option" with Mr. Robert De Niro as producer of the movie based on Moon The Loon the book. that idea was so good, IMO. Mr. De Niro is the really genius, long time in the movie biz, so many great movies (everybody know that, of course).

Dougal Butler is no wordsmith so why base a movie around a book which is full of cr*p about Keiths exploits. We as Who fans do not need a film about Keith Moon. Who does? It will not portray him as a musical giant but as a clown. He f**king Haw!!

Hold up, where's everyone getting all this Moon The Loon stuff? I thought that was DeNiro's project back in the 90's, and Roger made sure that didn't get made. I was sure that Roger intended to do justice to Keith's life in the movie he's trying to finance. As for Meyers being a comic actor, so are Robin Williams and Jim Carrey, and look at the solid dramatic work both have done. Rather ironic that when complaining about a one dimensional portrayal, you are looking very one dimensionally at Meyers.

Mike Powers is American and cant play the drums so there goes any credibility about this arse of a movie, and since when has Roger been a great movie maker ? Puke.

i wouldn't knock myers until we see the goods, but i do think this project needs a real director....I'd love to have seen Scorses grab it..the fact he's a Who fan may have helped...and he's a master of life portrayals

Mike Myers is Canadian w/ English background and has said in interviews preceding this movie that he does play drums. And Roger is the co-producer. And, in any case, he is an actor. After all, actors are supposed to play a part, they are not expected to "be" the person. There's nobody like Keith Moon around but it doesn't mean that no actor would be able to portray him. Or do you think that Russell Crowe had to be a genius at Maths in order to play Nash on "A beautiful mind"?
