i would pay to see them put together, yes, yet another concept tour, if they did the material from the who's next/lifehouse sessions, in a who context But that's what they did in 2000. That tour was sometimes called "The Lifehouse Revisited tour". Apart from the live-staples BBE, WGFA, BOR, that tour saw performances of rare material like Bargain, Getting In Tune, Relay, My Wife, Let's See Action, The Seeker... all belonging to the Lifehouse project.

I would have liked to have seem them do a proper Lifehouse tour. Townshend's solo Lifehouse performances showed that he remembered enough chords to do that. The Who were totally back on form in 2000, and such a tour would have been truly magnificent. I think the band wasted a HUGE opportunity with that tour.

----IF more new studio recordings are released, despite that the band played both their latest songs on their last tour, rglb and some of orw, how many newbies could they fit into a show, and should they focus on recording and performing singles rather than album tracks? I think something like four or five new songs would be what we'd get. That seems to be a good amount. It doesn't matter if they play singles or album tracks. This is sort of the problem they have at the moment, they seem to insist on making sure that EVERY audience member is familiar with EVERY song. I don't think this is necessary. Five or six "hits" is enough to keep the casual fans happy, and as long as the rest of the stuff is good, people will enjoy it. My ideal set: 6 or 7 "standards", then fill the rest of the show up with rarely played stuff and new songs. I can't see anyone complaining about that. There'd be enough of everything for everyone. Especially when something like say, Join Together, would please the hardcore fans since they never play it, but also the "greatest hits" crowd.

Just want to add my "2 cents" here: On the '89 "Kids Are Alright" tour (a.k.a. the "Tommy / Vegas On Ice" tour - which, IRONICALLY, they DIDN'T play here in Vegas LOL !), I saw them twice in Philly. On the 2nd night there, after intermission, Pete & Rog came out with accoustic guitars & played a beautiful JAW DROPPING version of "Too Much Of Anything" ! Would love to see them do that one again. As for solo stuff, particularly Rog's, I can name quite a few that Pete could rock out on: "One Of The Boys", alot of stuff from the "McVicar" soundtrack, which unofficially was a "Who album" (Pete & John played on most of the tracks), like "Bitter & Twisted", "My Time Is Gonna Come", "Waiting For A Friend" (Rog & Pete could do "Without Your Love" accousticaly). Can think of 3 more - "After The Fire", "Rocker" & of course "Under A Raging Moon" (HEY - if John could do that one live, which HE DID, why not Rog & Pete ??). One last thing - also on the '89 tour, Rog did an accoustic version of "Love Hurts" - was great BY HIMSELF, until the rest of the "orchestra" kicked in later, which turned the song into "Vegas SCHMALTZ" LOL !

P.S. - I also agree they should do more stuff from "By Numbers" - "Blue Red & Grey", "Imagine A Man", and especially "In A Hand Or A Face" - Pete WAILS on the guitar in that track !

Here I go again once more LOLOLOLOL !!!!!!!! I would LOVE to see them play "I Can See For Miles" - only this time, NO HORNS, NO BACK-UP SINGERS, AND NO RABBIT KEYBOARDS !!!!! - Just Pete, Rog & whoever they get on bass & drums ! And speaking of which, if Zak ain't gonna be availible this time around, my vote goes to either Neil Peart, or if they can get him outta retirement, former R.E.M. drummer Bill Berry !!!!!!! Yeah yeah yeah - wishfull thinkin' on my part LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL !!!!!!!!!

They should do Join Together (the album version, not Join Together Blues) - no horns, no backup singers, just the band themselves. They never did that (I'm not counting the Who on Ice version) though it is such a great song! Ralf

I wouldnt mind them singing After The Fire, Under A Raging Moon, or Giving It All Away. I would, since it would take up the time they could use to play TRUE Who songs. I'm with JeroenK on this. If it's a Who show, let's have Who songs. The band have more than enough of them to play, and more than enough unplayed Who songs they could play. They all have solo careers for performing the solo stuff. Given that Townshend has an entire back catologue of Who material to select from, It'd be criminal if he spent any time rehearsing solo material for a Who gig.....especially as it's The Who that Who fans are being kept hungry for. The band threw After The Fire into the setlist at Shepherds Bush in '99, and there was a noticeable slump in the energy of the show, partly because a lot of the audience members didn't seem to know the song, and partly because it just didn't fit with the material surrounding it.

Agreed! No solo stuff, there are enough unplayed Who gems, why use boring tunes like After the Fire!

i think you'll see a more acoustic set as these guys are getting older and want to work the songs in a new manner. they'll still have the roaring rock anthems but more of rog and pete together or by themselves.

You will get the same bollocks setlist, no chance of anything else, no variation what so ever, would require rehearsing... only chance of geting anything else is either Pete or Roger do solo shows and even then it pretty small but Bedford gig proved that there's at least a chance..

And c'mon you can't play 5.15 entirety with out John anymore...maybe Sure you can. They did it the last two tours...and on the original recording and live versions. The bass solo didn't show up until '96. I've never understood why people think of this only as the "bass solo" song. You said that already
