I saw him fall into the crowd during Young Man blues ay the Royal Albert Hall and then he allowed a fan to strum his guitar for a few seconds! THAT FAN WAS IN THE WHO FOR 6 SECONDS!

Both Pete and Roger have described their concerts as a 3 part show. It will always include a number of the radio friendly songs that even a non-fan will recognize. If they have new music to promote it will be there also. And finally some of what is considered their more "obscure" songs. What may be considered obscure to a crowd of 50,000, is not going to be all that obscure to us hardcore fans. All that being said, if Pete and Roger were to ask me here is a sample of what I would like to hear: Radio Friendly/Popular Stuff: BO Who Are You 5:15 BBE Kids are Alright I Can't Explain YBYB Long Live Rock Bargain Whatever they pick from Tommy Lesser Known Stuff: Music Must Change Naked Eye Let's See Action How Many Friends Pure and Easy Getting in Tune Sea and Sand Join Together Cut My Hair Water Some songs from the new CD (or am I pushing it!) Must end with: See Me, Feel Me Quoting myself, too lazy to rewrite my choices which really haven't changed. I am just psyched if they tour and I won't complain about the setlist! JK

You are right, I watched this sequence a dozen times, it's great and a WHO classic. But it never came to mind that that guy was indeed in the WHO for a couple of seconds!!

Considering the fact that this tour (if it ever happens) will moooost probably be their very last one, I agree to what a few people said: let them play whatever they want as long as the PLAY! Which doesn't mean that I am not aware of the fact that the unchanging setlist is an awful drag. But again: Setlists are not that much of a subject to the average WHO fan who owns only the official recordings but only to us freaks out here that have dozens and dozens of live shows (trying to avoid the word bootleg) all with more or less the same songs on them. Anticipating what a few people will say, let me add: I am convinced that the average WHO fan doesn't even know about the Encore series or own more than one, so even the repeated setlists there will only be a nuisance to the few of us that meet in places like this.

Im new to Who fandom, so theres a lot of Who stuff I dont know, so by the time that they actually start touring my setlist will change dramatically. The fowllowing setlist will never happen in a million years:
Baba O'Riley Happy Jack Substitute TOMMY, all of it. (i wish they still did that...) My Generation A few Songs from Quad This Song is over
Encore: Bargain Who Are you Listening to You (again)

I could handle seeing "Dreaming from the Waist" added to the lineup. Maybe Pete could do a version of "Sunrise" or "Blue, Red and Grey" for his acoustic showcase. The latter can actually be played on a guitar pretty convincingly, if you capo at the 7th fret - or so Whotabs tells me. A full band version of Blue Red and Grey was originally planed for in 2002. As Rabbit had posted his keyboard work for the song at his website. JD

JD I don't know if it was necessarily meant to be a full band version though. It could have just been Pete and Rabbit, since Rabbit was just doing John's French Horn parts.

Ah, what the hell, Heaven and Hell should be the band's set opener in 2006! Instead of throwing all of John's songs out because he's not there anymore they should bring out their best set opener of all time to honor John and Keith (wherever they are). I honestly believe that an all out assault of H&H could wow and suprise today's audiences.
It probably won't happen, but I think this is too good an idea to not bring up, so what dou you guys think?

A revised set is surely needed..apart from the new material... A set opener different to substitute/Cant Explain would also help Other tunes...? Run Run Run/Circles would make a good medley Slip Kid In a hand or a face Put the money down ! Sensation

Don't bank on too much of a change. I read a recent interview with Roger (can't think where - Mojo magazine probably) who stated that 'Can't Explain'/'Substitute' will remain the opener and for the rest they'd be doing crowd favourites given that they'll be playing to big audiences.

I'd settle for the addition of Young Man Blues and Baby Don't You Do It sprinkled in with the usual set. I'd also love to hear Trick of The Light but I dont know if that can be pulled off without John. But it would be interesting. I think Roger could do the vocals on his own. It's not so much of a stretch as something like Real Me or My Wife would be.

Re: Lordchaos
ABSOLUTLY...YMB and Trick of the Light would be an excellent part of the set. I am still hoping (?!) for Run run run/Circles as well as more recent stuff like Cry if you want. Lets hope the new stuff really is good as Rabbit says

Yes, would love to see Long Live Rock blasting Bristol on 28 June! Will they be the first band to vomit in the bar there I wonder?
Guitar & Pen would not go amiss either; ditto Time is Passing.
I plan to not vomit in the Merchant's Arms in Hotwells before the gig, if anyone's planning a pre-gig drink...

Therin lies the simple problem, and one which is simple to fix. An hour spent in a room with the sheet music to refresh the mind, followed by a few hours rehearsal with the band, and Sunrise would be sorted. But why go to all that trouble when you can get away with dusting off 'I Can't Explain' and 'Baba O'Riley'.... Yes indeed.... you would actaully need to rehearse more that 5 minutes. I woulnt care at all what they played during the tour if they even once or twice had done a show with something else but as it has been it would reguire more than 5 mn practice that is impossible.. so f**kk the lame lazy a**holes..... This is like Groundhog Day ffs!! This topic is as stale as you say the setlist is (it was going on in 200!) - The Stones have sounded cr*p for years now and I personally wouldnt go to see them if my life depnded on it! Nice to see you have the spare time though to make a point that the majority couldnt give a toss about.

That's the nature of discussion forums...setlist related topics will always be repeated when a band tours. And don't forget, for some people this may be the first time they've been online to discuss such issues. And surely this particular topic's 'groundhog day' nature (and the thread having been read 1545 times) shows that many people do give a toss? Aaaaaaaaaaanyway! Back to the discussion.....

Fair comment but surely if you have been lucky enough to see them that many times to get bored of it you should maybe take a rest?? However,in getting in the spirit of the topic - Getting In Tune, Sister Disco,Cant Explain,Drowned (leccy version!!) - nice additions I reckon.

I wouldn't call Can't Explain and 'addition', Boris. However, I'm pretty torn whether I want to hear it or not. I've heard it enough, still I love it to bits.
A question to the more experienced people on the forum: Isn't it customary that when the Who starts a tour with little time to spare that they fall back on a proven and tested setlist?
I mean, Hedgestock was a late addition to the tour and ten days before the next gig. How much could there still change between Hedgestock and Leeds, and Brighton and Wireless for instance?
Still hopeful of hearing Now I'm A Farmer, I suppose! ;D
